What's your favorite bodyweight exercise???

And or best full body bodyweight routine.

I'm a big fan of widegrip pull-ups. They're hard and uncomfortable and I don't look forward to doing them, but it's well worth the results

my favorite body weight exercises used to be one arm elevated pushups (sometines with weight on my back) and pistols/one leg squats. I dont do body weight exercises anymore because any variation of the one arm pushup is bad for ur joints and needing balance for pistols was really annoying.

If u really like bodyweight exercises then i would really recomend u doing pistols. Its the only bw exercise thats closest to the squat.

dips - but can some1 give me a uk site where i can get a belt to add some weight, coz i can do 3 sets of 10 fairly comfortably now and wanna make it harder and go for less reps - but i've never seen any one at my gym strapping weight to themselves for pull ups or dips ever, dont even know wat they look like.

zapedy. It is easy to make your own. There are many ways to do it.
The cheapest way I know is to purchase "webbing" from a climbing store.
Just slide the webbing through a weight plate and put your legs through the hoops, the weight will stay on if you keep your legs bent (with pullups). You can also carry the weights on your chest by doing the same as above but instead put your arms through the loops so they are up and around your shoulders. The only problem with this is that if you are using very heavy weights it may cut into your shoulders.
Another idea is if you have a weight belt your can use it to hang the weight off of it. Just buy a locking carabiner and a piece of chain then slide one end of the chain through a weight plate and the loop on you lifting belt then lock it with the carabner.

There are a lot of bodyweight exercises that I like though. I'm a big fan of pullups. One legged squats, free standing, are always a good challenge. Hanging tick tocks are tough. Superman pushups are ridiculously hard. One armed pushups are good. Handstand pushups are brutal. I could go on.

If I have to pick just one, I guess it would be the pullups though. I'm not sure why, but there's something I really like about pullups. You can find me doing them around the gym all the time while I'm there.

Yeah I know what you mean CowPimp there are a lot of good bodyweight exercises.

These are the ones I like.

Muscle ups are killer, handstand pushups are humbling when done off two chairs. One legged squats off a wobble board are great for working on your balance. Dips dominate when done super slow (with added weight).

I love all types of pullups and chin ups too (with and without added weight). I like doing them from my fingers off of an "I" beam, straight as a corpse, not to wide just 4-6 inches outside of shoulder width, those feel and work the best for me. I also like to mix it up my pullup sessions with towel pullups- one hand with an overhand grip and the other hand gripping a towel (the towel hanging over the bar), they are great for improving your grip strength and help you find out which arm is stronger.

Pull-ups.

Dips with added weight are awesome as well.

Ah yes, towel pullups. Those are great too, certainly.

Funny how pull ups are so hard, yet even pulldowns with the same amount of weight do not seem as hard.

Same thing with squatting compared to a hack squat, or bench pressing compared to a Hammer Strength press. I think pulldowns are better than the aforementioned movements though.

Yep, stabilizing muscles, differing ROM's for seemingly similar exercises. That sort a stuff eh?

Actually, I can probably do more weight on hack squats but I find regular barbell squats much more comfortable. Hack squats, while definately giving the feeling (or illusion) of concentrating on the quads, feel very uncomfortable to the body as a whole, at least for me!

Yeah, all that good stuff.

Agreed. I have never liked them very much.

Lot's of good replies...

I just finished a workout, ending with three sets of windmills (I think that's what you call them??) You know when you are hanging from a pullup bar.when you pull yourself up with your abs into a high curl then turn your knees from side to side. I cycled those with a set of hanging knee ups (going super slow, pausing at the top of the contraction, and then lowering in a slow controlled way. Two more great "true" bodyweight exercises- what a pump! whipped my ass!!

And I am taking P-Funks advice and eating massive amounts! I know, diet is important. Thanks.

It's interesting that no one mentioned any other type of pushup other than one arm push ups and handstand pushups...oh yeah supermans- yikes super tough! I have tried those, very hard. I love divebombers and hindu pushups because they get your heart a pumpin' and when done correctly work so many areas (shoulders, biceps, triceps, chest, back, abs, lower back). I have never tried them with a weighted vest (don't have one) but I have always thought that it would be very effective. I find that hindu pushups are an excellent exercise to warm up with.

I find that in general bodyweight exercises help me breathe deeper and fuller. I know they have helped me manage my oxygen better which helps increase the bodies ability to recover quicker when moving from one exercise to another.

I like chin ups with a narrow grip, where my palms are parallel.
