Just tell your son. He's going to be hurt more if he doesn't find out his gf is a slut then walks in on her and some other guy, or her telling him she's cheated on him. Just tell him now before he starts to fall in love with this chick and finds out his gf cheated on him. Or you can wait till he falls in love with her, then she cheats, and have a pissed off 18 year old walking around the house for a long time.

WTF, how would that help? His son would get sad, she would get angry and he would not get laid.

If she sleeps with him and never tell anyone, he will get laid, she will get laid and his son will never know and they will probably break up in the future anyway. I am still not really sure what he needs to do though.

I got more problems: He friggin likes her a lot. I brought it up around breakfast. I also asked (painfully) if he fooled around at all and thankfully he said no. So, I said make sure you really like this girl becuase you dont know anything about her. He asked what I meant, and I told him because with all the crazy shit going on these days you never know. He said okay. SO heres where I stand, it doesnt seem like he banged her yet-it does seem like hes on the way. I need to get his mother involved. This is fucking crazy.

I'm not sure what I'd do. But, this is what I've seen:

When somebody tries to tell a friend/relative that the person they are in love with...is bad news...then the person who is trying to tell the truth...ALMOST ALWAYS gets blamed somehow!

Maybe that's just my experience. I've tried to tell friends their BFs were inappropriate with me...I even saved the emails one guy sent (b/c my BF at the time said it was a good idea)...she still blamed me for a long time...over a year. She's just now telling me she's sorry...he was a loser.

This is in the case of actual cheating...When you try to tell your son what's going on...my guess is...YOU are gonna somehow get blamed. Either way...he's gonna resent you for years to come!

Ask his mother? Sounds like a good idea. She might help him see this gal clearly in other ways...without it being about YOU.

Time reveals all things. Stay away from her. If/when he mentions to you or his mother that he is having doubts about her character...you both can encourage him by telling him what wisdom he has to see these things....

I'm not saying you shouldn't tell him. Just throwing a few thoughts I haven't seen posted yet. Good luck! This sucks!

take a deep breath n blurt it out. flat out tell him she came on to you. this isn't a time for games or hoping for the best. she could give him any number of diseases let alone tearing up his emotions onces he's even deeper than he is now. if it was a guy i really liked hitting on my mom it'd hurt yea but her not telling me would be the more painful betrayal... start by telling him you have wrestled with this and don't want to hurt him but that you love him too much to treat him like a child who needs to be protected from painful truths. that you respect that he is becoming a man and is prepared to take on some of lifes harder realities. tell him.

he took it hard. I just spit it out and guess who happened to call just as I was dropping the thermonuclear time bomb...the skank!!! He thought at first I was kidding. Then his face turned red, and he accepted it. I told him I didnt want him to hate me because this happened, but I didnt want him to get any godforbid diseases from this broad. He anwers his cell and is on for about a minute. He hangs up with her and says hes going to dump her ass to the curb.
Fast forward an hour later-probaly the most excruciating hour in my life. He tells me hes okay, he told her what i said she might try-the fucking douchebag tries to turn the tables on me , saying I did it first-total bullshit. He said to her you have ten seconds to get away from me before I send in my cousin to remove you from my sight (this cunt happens to be petrified of my niece-shes a bodybuilder in on season training)...she comes in anyway, tells hells her to leave. Now. and dont go around making tales of my uncle. Otherwise she'd find her.
This puts a smile on his face as he tells me this. It was this that told me hes going to be fine. My niece calls me and told me the entire story. He did cry a little to her but by the time he got home he was better. So, I did what Bill Cosby would do. I dropped some money on the table and told him to be at home by 1am. He gives me a kiss goodbye and I said to myself-shit hes getting like me.

thanks for the props. It took a long time for me to be that way. I wnet through hell because I am an old fashioned raised Italian. I come from a family that used the strap. I was tough-still am, but my kid earned the right to be trusted. Hes a genuine kid-turned 18 2 days ago, goddamn I feel old (39), and he and I now train together. He does mixed martial arts, and now hes doing my routine (bodybuilding volume). He comes in the other day, and tells me he's going to be a State Trooper. Threw me for a loop, and I the luckiest guy alive to have a good son. Bottom line.

I know, what I meant was that the apple never falls far from the tree.
So if Juggernaut is a good guy hopefully his son also is.

The song does relate to me though. My parents divorced when we were kids and when they remarried they pushed us aside, so I grew up not being close to them.
Now as they are older they wonder why don't I visit or call them....I just shrug my shoulders at them, but I tell myself that's the way you guys raised us.

I am not making that same mistake with my kids, even my stepkids.

parenting is a tough freaking job full of potential pitfalls. me n my brothers were beat to shit so i went too far the other way n never disciplined my kids at first.... kudos to anyone who approaches this job with the will to do it right you guys rock! or girls....

I just started reading this thread while taking a break from work. Hadn't seen it before so couldn't really comment on it.
Little Wing is absolutely correct, parenting isn't easy, but by doing what you did, and actually talking about it, you made it easier for us new parents and the parents to be and gave us an idea of what it was like to be a dad and what happens when you do the right thing. I have a 4 year old girl and 2 year old boy and I learned a lot from this exchange.
I also want to commend you for having the brass balls of doing what you did. I don't know how I would have handled it myself, but having read what you did makes me think that all will be fine. I guess it does pay to give your kid a good upbringing, and you sir, have done a great job. Hats off......

thank you. It aint easy, but my dad always said to go with your heart, so I guess if I can give any advice, it'd be to do just that. It sucks once in awhile when you gotta do things that you know is good for them, but makes you look like the bad guy. I've been blessed with a good solid kid.
