Is it advisable to have one cup of oatmeal (Muscle Milk protein oatmeal to be specific) on the morning of my show for breakfast (in addition to a fruit and other stuff)? Or will the oatmeal be too heavy?

Prejudging is at 11 and night show is at 6 in case it makes a difference.

thanks!

Jaime...do you have someone prepping you?

I always used whole food. My staple for that particular morning is broiled chicken in a grapefruit juice and OF oats. Gives you a fuller feeling than a liquid meal.

hey Jodie,

I saw the abs pic in the gallery. Mind if I do some laundry on that?!!!

Hmmm... I agree with Jodi - you should be working with someone who should be helping you with all of this?!!

But anyway - I would not do oats pre judging - you are asking for bloat issues... You need LOW FIBRE type things. Different people use different foods but things like rice cakes, honey, lollies/candy, wine (although you are underage), sweet potato, white rice, fruit juice.... that sort of thing...

However what you are going to need to do depends on if you have manipulated sodium/water levels and if you have carb loaded or fat loaded and all those sorts of things.

Emma, I disagree. It's a looong day ahead and you need that full feeling because by the time you go on stage, between nerves and moving around, there's no way your going to be bloated or full. By the time I hit the stage, omigod I see people as steaks and fries standing up!!!! I am taller and heavier so that might be a difference.

Well, I ended up having the oatmeal, fruit and 4 rice cakes. It didn't really give me a bloat, and kept me full until after the pre-judging.

No, I didn't have anyone prepping me. I can't afford it.
I didn't come in last though

I'd be more than happy to offer my two cents whenever you want it. Congratulations on a job well done.

How did you do Jaim? Pictures?

Posted by: dontsurfonmytur

that muscle milk oatmeal looks gross to me lol, full of weird ingredients also

Posted by: juggernaut

bah! just throw some eggs and whey together. On contest day, you shouldnt be taking in whey.

Posted by: jaim91

I came in 6th out of seventh in th novice divison (my first real competition) and first in the teen women's division. thanks for offering your help juggernaut, i appreciate it. It would be nice to have someone backstage like everyone else, but I really can't afford it. I mean, I have to pay fare to get to and from the contests, I pay for taxis to get to the venues, hotels to sleep at, and all my protein supplement and food.

my mom doesn't endorse the bodybuilding lifestyle, so she won't help me out at all. which is why i rely on all your expertise to help me through.

the pics will be up in the next few days, i just have to finish the camera

p.s. Why no whey on contest day?

Posted by: juggernaut

smoothes you out. I usually drop whey a moth before the contest, and rely soley on whole food. I would really think about doing that if I were you, becuae its a quick and easy way to save money on supplements and when you compete again next time, you;ll have a bit more cash.
Ive competed a few times, so if you want any other help, I'd be glad to hear from you in a PM to answer any and all questions, from tanning to eating to whatever. My first time was when I really went overboard and spend too much money. My following contests were a bit better and I learned some tricks. Let me know if I can help you.

I know a great water draining trick that I can give you if you like.

Jaime...if you go dig in my old journals there is lots of info there. even my last week and day of show. I have a trainer/nutritionist that I work with now, so I can't share my last stuff from Nov. But the other trainer I had I could and its all there.

Posted by: jaim91

Wow, thanks guys! Ya, J, that would be great if you could please post a link to the pages in your journal that would be great. I definitely consider you and jugg a valuable source.

Posted by: juggernaut

I dont have a journal up (although I should) but I keep my stuff written in a word document. Let me know what you need.

Posted by: JLB001

I'm pretty busy and don't have the time to go dig for the exact pages. in the one journal it would in the month of July. At the beginning page of each journal is a link to the previous journal. Just gotta go do a lil reading.
