After reading and taking advice from a post in the training section, I'm going to try a short term low carb diet. To maintain my calorie intake and replace most of my carbs, what do you think of the following foods for fat+protein:

1: cheese
2: nuts
3: whole eggs

Thanks for the input!

How low carb are you talking here? Like veggies only will you be adding complex, fruit or dairy carbs in at all?

Under the recommendation of GoPro and Foreman, I'm trying to lower my carb intake (not much but I'm removing my post workout sugar) to help cut a little, and I'm not expecting instant results, but I want to maintain my calorie intake (I assume).

Is this a safe way to cut down while keep my muscle mass? Also, besides whey protein, what else is good to eat immediately after training?

Thanks for the help, it's really appreciated.

Then I wouldn't increase your fat with useless fats. Instead I would add in the following to keep your cals up.

Fish Oil
Flax Oil
Avocado's
Olive Oil
Nuts

Thanks Jodi - what do you think of almonds? It says they are high in mono, and to a less extent poly, unstaturates.

Also, post workout, any ideas for food?

Thanks again! Your knowledge is really appreciated.

For nuts, Almonds and Walnuts are your best choices.

Protein, Oats, yogurt and some fruit for PWO. Now if you want to cut that carb intake down then just go with the oats one time and the next time go with yogurt and fruit.

So... clean complex, and fruit... would an apple be ok?

Sorry to keep troubling you, but why yoghurt? Would whey protein, something complex and a piece of fruit be ok?

Thanks again Jodi

Yes, complex carb, such as oats and an apple would be good. Do try to get some yogurt in too though and unless you are competition cutting there is very little reason why you should cut dairy out all together.

Yogurt provides many health benefits. Active cultures are good bacteria that are necessary for the body to function. These good bacteria prevent the growth of harmful bacteria that cause bacterial infections and diseases. Healthy levels of good bacteria also promote digestive health and boost the immune system. Eating yogurt regularly can help restore your good bacteria levels. Active live cultures, from what I've read anyway, can actually reduce yogurt’s level of lactose, making yogurt a dairy alternative for anyone who is lactose intolerant. it is very high in calcium and also a good source of protein. Don't get the sugar ladened yogurts. Get plain no sugar added yogurt and add some splenda and fruit to make it more palatable.

Will do! Thanks for the solid advice.

As for the complex carbs, what do you think of 'organic' corn flakes (low fat and apparently healther than normal corn flakes) with milk ~15 min after workout (to allow me to get home)?

Thanks again!!!!

Skip the corn flakes!

Stay with Oats and or oat Bran, brown rice, sweet potatos or yams. Whole grain etc..
