Constant flow of protein

This is a rather peculiar question that has been bugging me for some time, and most likely has a simple answer.

The common diet revolves around 6 meals a day, with the daily protein intake approximately divided equally. This simplifies diet into smaller, easier to prepare meals, but does it have more meaning regarding metabolism? I'm considering having a few grams of protein every couple of minutes via a giant shake.

My summer job should allow me to have a drink, and maybe food, readily on hand to keep up with meal timing. I was planning on getting a 40 ounce jug and throwing in 4 scoops of whey (~100g whey) with water and sip it throughout the day. I've never really heard of a constant flow of protein, that is constantly having a few grams of protein every 10 minutes or so. It would be like sipping a giant shake in between meals. I wouldn't skip meals at all, but instead of having say 2, 50g shakes spaced out over 6-8 hours, I'd have it across 6-8 hours.

I wonder if this would help absorbtion rates... for the positive or for the negative. Does the body only take in nutrients when it is actually "hungry"?

If this is actually not bad or anything for you, then i think im going to try it as well.

The negative part could be that the synthesis of protein could be lower when the body is not "hungry" for it, and un-used protein, as we all know, can be turned into fat...

Another scenario I was thinking about regarded the 6-meal skeleton plan. Is there a reason for the 6 meals. Maybe the body needs to be constantly "shocked" with nutrients for uptake, such as a meal every 3 hours.

Anybody have an opinion on this? I'd like to give it a shot, especially since I will be on cycle when I start this.

I read somewhere that whey powder starts to denature in water after 15 or 20 minutes. I don't know if this is true. I personally don't make my shakes until I am ready to drink them.

I don't make my shakes until I am ready to down it also. I did hear that it was not good to let it sit around...

Can't you just take the powder with you and shake it up as you need it?

I would think the reason for the small 6 meals per day (which I do also) would be to keep your metabolism up.

Right, I forgot about that issue- I too have read that before. The same seems to apply to numerous sport drinks, such as creatine.

This would actually allow me to monitor how much protein I would consume every 20 minutes-
If I kept a bottle of whey with me and mixed up ~12g (half a scoop) first thing at work and sipped it for about 20/30 minutes. Then would replace it after that time elapsed... it would actually be more precise in measurement to do it that way than my original 100g shaker.

U really shouldnt just rely on protein shakes during the day. I tend to take sandwiches and maybe some chicken fillets into work with me, and buy either rice or a baked potato at work.

Sandwiches:
1 Chicken breast or 3 slices of ham(cut from etc
1 whole slice or 3 1/2 slices of mature cheddar
Mayonnaise/ margerine/ olive oil ( to taste)
Salad veggies ( lettuce, cucumber, tomato etc)
four slices wholemeal/ granary bread.
