Weekend Refeeds?

It is quite easy for me to eat a low carb, low fat diet during the work week. Sensible breakfast at home, snack once I get to work, lunch, another snack at work, sensible dinner at home, and a protein shake before bed.

But I find it very difficult to follow this planned diet on the weekends. Similarly, I find it very difficult to do a refeed during the work week (since I am pretty busy running around).

Following the guidelines in the Refeed/Leptin sticky (which was awesome Jodi!), would I still be able to cut if I did the low carb diet for 5 days (monday - friday), and then refed the entire weekend?

I am about 198lbs, 11.7% bodyfat, and my goal is to get to around 8% bodyfat or less for the summer.

You could do this - there are many diets that cycle low carb/keto (or lower calorie) type eating for a number of days (3 to 5... sometimes more) and then overfeeding/carb ups spaced between these.

5 days under-feeding: 2 days over-feeding is not too bad a ratio... Just monitor yourself over the first few cycles so you can make sure you are creating enough of a calorie deficiency and enough glycogen depletion during the week to compensate for the carbs on the weekend.

You might also want to look at your workouts to make sure they would suit this type of diet as well.

would a low carb diet work quicker if im trying to recomp - and just lose the last bf from the abs?

Thanks Emma! I really appreciate your advice. I am learning an awful lot through these message boards, but still have a ways to go.

Im a little worried about my diet too, in the sense that I might not be eating enough to add muscle while cutting.

I have 6 meals a day, and my calorie intake on diet/week days is only 1590 cals; with 256 g. protein, 32 g. fat (18 from a muscle milk shake at night), and 74 g. carbs.

On refeeds, I dont really keep tally, but Im sure my calories double at least, and my carbs go through the roof. Fat and protein remain about the same.

My goals, like almost everyone else, is to cut while continuing to add muscle. After the summer, Ill switch gears and try a bulking diet for the first time!

As far as my workouts go, I just adopted a new push-legs-pull workout with periodization. I also try to do hitt cardio at least 3 times a week.

IMO carb cycling is better for the last bit of stubborn bf (ofcourse everyone is different and this is from my experience). just a thought.
