what's the optimum period for feeling pain after ur work-out to make sure u hit the muscle with the optimum load for best growth and in the same time that u haven't overtrained it....???? does feeling the pain for many days after the workout means that the body fails to recover and that a week of rest is essential??

how do u know that ur body is not suffering overtraining,, and if it does would u rest imediatly or just decrease the volume and take more rest periods between workouts??

muscle soreness is not an indicator of a successful workout.

symptoms which can result from overtraining are (there are a lot so i'll just list a handful): decreased performance (such as strength, power, muscle endurance), increased recovery time, motor coordination all jacked up, heart rate 'off', increased BMR, chronic fatigue, headaches, sleeping/eating 'off', joint aches, stress, depression, sick more often, etc, etc.

if i figured out at some point i was overtraining, i'd take a full week off and alter my program.

so what do u say about the pain increasing gradually in the next day untill reaching the peak after 2 days of the workout....every day with more pain .......shall all the pain appear the day after the work out??

Soreness occurs usually after targeting muscles not trained in a while, or trained harder than usual. I like a bit of soreness, its a kind of guarentee that you have hit the spot. If you have a week off, or two, the soreness will be more prominent, you will also find its worse on the second day after training. Stretching off after a workout and often on particularly sore areas could help.

This is reffered as D.O.M.S. known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. It is a very individualistic response and occurs within 24-48 hours after training.

Muscle soreness usually occurs when muscle fibers were stretched beyond their normal length or placed under more 'tension' than prior as the other posters have mentioned

More than 5 days of muscle soreness means you are undernourished and not optimizing certain recovery techniques ie massage, stretching, supplementation, cold showers etc

Or it means you simply did more than your body required in that given workout! Hope that helps
