dependson where you are at.

in the states, anywhere from $40-150/hr! It depends where in the states you are and who the person is.

If you are going to hire one though, make sure they know what they are talking about. most PTs are slackers and not very helpful.

Deoends where you are, a good one should cost at least 60 bucks an hour, and your goals would obviously have bearing on which you would hire. I would not hire one without an NSCA or NASM cert, and honestly wouldn't hire one without the CSCS. I was thinking that i wouldn't hire one without a degree, but I have met some stupid fuckers with an ES degree so that criteria is dropped.

A good trainer can help even the smartest trainee out.

I run a Personal Training department of 14 full time trainers.

And yes, not all trainers are created equal. You will defintely find a higher quality trainer in a private studio or smaller club versus a super sized monster club that pumps out $150-200 K a month in PT sales and hire shit trainers just to service there clients.

If you have never been properly trained you will defintely benefit from the following:

- Intensity (there is no way you will get a better workout alone versus having some push you)

- Technique ( this is something that needs to be reinforced forever)

- Structure/Plan (a good trainer will have a reason for every thing you do. Learn all you can)

- Motivation (we have members who drop five figures on personal trainers just because they are not self-motivated. Nothing to be ashamed of...having a appointment and financial committemtn solves that problem pretty quickly).

Most clubs are making personal training more accessible than ever. For example...many clubs offer 12 months worth of financing to overcome price objection

Yeah, really. Most places seem to only pay out about 1/3 of what they charge for training. 1/2 is pretty decent really, from what I can tell.
