scary hockey moment

Anyone remember that incident about 15 years ago, when then-goaltender Clint Malarchuk got his throat sliced open during a game? A couple of guys went crashing into him, and in the process, someone skated over his throat. He jumped to his knees, and at that point blood started squirting from his neck. Turns out he had to stuff his fist down the hole to block the blood flow. He was lucky to live through that. I remember seeing that on the news. Man, it was something right out of a horror movie.

I don't know...I was driving into work this morning and I was thinking about that for some reason. That was the only time seeing an injury scared the hell out of me.

A kid on my towns local Jr. B team had that happen , he was even wearing one of those collars. The trainer on the team actually held his jugular closed with her hands until the paramedics arrived. The young man is doing well now (nice scar though) and the trainer is up for a life saving award. Im surprised this doesn't happen mor e often.

I remember when that happened, back in 89 when he played for Buffalo. His jugular vein was cut by a skate, there was blood everywhere, fans were passing out in the stands. Malarchuk was saved by doctors that rushed out onto the ice and amazingly he was playing 2 weeks later.

how about when sid vicious broke his leg on WCW Nitro and they showed it live on TV. That was the grosest injury i have ever seen in pro sports

that was very scary, there are some bad things that heppen in pro sports but that was life and death. I have been a huge hockey fan since I was very young and have seen some pretty bad stuff.
Ok this wasn't as bad as a skate blade to the throat but it happened to me so it felt as bad. last year in my hockey game I leaned in to poke check a puck from a player and he took a slapshot that hit my nose. I have never seen so much blood in my life. a guy on my team who is premed sat me down and was gonna stich me up until he saw how bad it was and he was like "holy shit". so that scared me pretty bad. my nose was pretty bad and I had to have surgery a couple days later to repair the damage. that was my personal scariest moment.

Damn, bro. Sounds painful! I took a "puck" to the mouth once, but it was during a roller hockey game, and it was one of those Mylec balls. No teeth lost, but I got a fat lip and some blood.

I took a stick to the mouth once the night before a hot date. I ended up going on the date with a nasty, visible gash on my top lip. It's ok...chicks dig hockey players.

Not my worse hit but I was tagged with a puck in the neck, could of crushed my windpipe, anyways I was gasping for air and could not eat for about three days.

Remember Ed Mc Caffrey I think it was on Monday Night Football. You couldnt see any blood but they replayed his leg breaking and breaking over and over again. Still caught the ball too.

Yeah, you could see the bone coming through the sock.
The worst I've seen was during a football game. Guy on my team had the achellies (sp)torn off right at the heel. His whole calf was up behind his knee, poor guy was just screaming in pain.
