what do you guys think is the best time to workout in if you wanna have best gains .... for cutting or bulking morning or evening???

i've heard many thing about that issue , like if you want to cut you must workout in the morning and that it doesn't matter , and that in the morning your metabolism is high and at evening you are in a better hormonal state...but i think that i had to ask some one who have tried to workout in both times so he would have better experience

I work out 2 1/2 hours after waking up 95% of time. However, last week I worked out later in the day and had a exceptional workout. I could have just had a good day though. Big reason I workout earlier is because I don't feel like taking two showers.

I think the best time would be before you wake up.

Nope, losing fat is pretty easy for me. Putting on weight is the problem.

I think the best time to workout is more a mental thing, because most of the time I workout in the afternoon. Around 3:30pm-4:00pm, but I have worked out in the morning around 9:30am-10:00am and I have had great workouts. So I think it's mental.

Firstly, as long as you're actually getting a full night's sleep, I doubt very much your body is going to be thrown off by what time of day it is. It really has no idea - it just knows it needs a certain amount of sleep. If you're fulfilling this need, I see no reason that you should have more trouble losing weight. It would certainly help to have a very consistent schedule, but what the sleep schedule is does not matter.

Secondly, I think it depends totally on the person. Personally I've had some of my very best squat workouts after waking up at 5:30, going to school, getting home at 3, going to work from 4-9 and then eating something when I get home before hitting the weights. I don't know how or why that is, but it's happened several times before. I also know that I have absolutely horrible workouts in the morning. Perhaps it's just my age and the fact that it takes me longer to wake up than other ages combined with the fact that I'm basically nocturnal. I'm not really sure. I just know that I do not have productive morning workouts and I avoid them at all costs. In fact, I'd rather skip a workout than do it in the morning (Well, I could see myself doing some HIIT or something, but nothing as arduous as heavy lifting.).

Sometimes I wish I would work out later, but thinking about the workout usually consumes me until I do it.

Heh, this happens to me as well. I usually keep playing over and over whichever the most demanding exercise is the whole day before I lift. Actually, I sometimes do it for several days before I lift. Oh well. That's what I get for being obsessed with something I can't do every day.

Yeah sometimes I'll be thinking for days about a leg workout I have planned. I'll even have dreams.

My best workouts are on my two days off as soon as I wake up. All of my neurotransmitters have been replenished by my brain while I slept. This helps me lift like a fucking animal after those first 2 cups of coffee.

Whenever you feel like you can get a good workout in. I believe that working out earlier in the day is probably better, but the difference is most likely negligible if it exists at all.

I made the mistake of working at around 2-5pm last year at my local gym. Why? Well, it's a commercial gym and that means it is full of knuckleheads who do endless sets of chest and biceps and also watch tv (yes there is a tv in the free weight room) and chat about chicks, how big they are, brag about numbers and flex in the mirror.

I have been consistently working out earlier this year around 10-11am and the free weight room is basically empty. All the cardio kings are in the other room and it's just usually older men and women with a few young hotties.

I am so glad i workout in the morning now. My early classes at 8am all year during college really got me in the habit of waking up and getting my workout over with so i don't have to shower twice during the day and i don't have to think about my workout all day. Most times, if i am having a bad day, i definitely don't want to look forward to an intense leg session or feel like going to the gym so i am now officially a morning guy.

I can see how doing it in the morning would probably be a bit better, especially from Shiznit's logic about having a bad day. Ive had crappy days in work where ive gotten home and just couldnt be bothered to train properly.

Id love to work out in the morning, but its not always possible, so after work will have to do. It hasnt really stunted my gains or anything. Its all in the mind i suppose.

From a practical point of view, yeah, working out earlier is better. Because I haven't ever really had a typical 9-5 work schedule, I have been able to workout at somewhat off times. For example, today I finish training people at 8:30AM. I'll start working out at about 9AM, give or take a few based on when I get my pre workout meal in, and there will be hardly anyone in my gym. Working out at like 6PM is a fucking pain in the ass in terms of getting the equipment you want.

There's morning people, afternoon and evening people. Best time is when you bring the most intensity.

For me that's morning but a lot of it is dictated by my work day and activities in the evening that there's no way I'd have an effective workout at night.

This would probably go for cardio as well....when you can bring the most intensity.
