Why? Because 3 scoops of whey protein = overkill (unless you have about 250 lbs of muscle mass). Not only that but whey is relatively quick to digest and absorb - and usuallu at night you want something that is slowly absorbed to help maintain your amino acid intake over the night. So I would use a casein type protein (powder or something like cottage cheese)... Or, meat/whole eggs... I would also add some fiber and fats (to help slow digestion further). As for the banana?? Well - some carbs at night have been shown to be beneficial in maintaining lean mass when dieting - but I would suggest you swap to a higher fiber fruit such as berries. |
