Hey all, taking a week off from training soon. Not sure what to do about my diet...atm im eating about 4000 calories a day and am steadily putting on weight in conjuction with the lifting im doing.

What should i do during the week off. Obviously if im not working out, some of those un-used calories are gonna turn to fat, but will it be a drastic effect? If it wont make much difference over a week ill just keep eating what i am now, maybe do a bit of cardio or something.

If itll make a bigger difference, how much should i take that 4000 down by?

Never taken a proper week off since i really started paying attention to training and diet together, not sure what to do.

Cheers in advance!

i wouldn't of thought it would have a huge impact just try and keep the calories clean to avoid fat intake

I go through the same thing whenever I take a week off. I usually just stick with the same cals. Maybe I'll drop it 200 or so.

Cheers guys.

I usually try to keep fat down anyway, and my metabolism is pretty good, but it just doesnt seem right sometimes :P.

One things for sure, ill have a LOT more energy! Ill just take my cals down by a little bit to make sure.

A little light cardio, as you mentioned, couldn't hurt. Why not?

Personally I'm much more of a cardio-oriented guy but I know if/when I plan to take an entire week off (a good idea) I will need to do something light to even be able to get to sleep.

Yeah, i know what you mean. I just know its going to more of a mental struggle to stop myself from lifting.

Ill just take the oppertunity to do things i havent done for a while. Play some sports, go swimming, just some nice easy going stuff.

And yeah, its definitly smart to take some time off every now and again.

i would reduce cals to maintenance

when I take a layoff, I usually cut the carbs in half or more. I'm not doing anythign strenuous, but I need the fats and i need the protein. The extra energy will only convert to BF. Bottom line is, you need protein-you're rebuilding and repairing.
