Hi, I've just joined this site as the other ones I was using seemed to have died off a bit and I needed some guidance. I'm 29 6ft, I used to train a lot about 8 years ago at university, swimming, gym, running, and tae kwon do almost every day. Then after stopping and starting again once uni was over (real life kicked in!) I have, in the last two months started to think seriously about weight training and have been sticking to a program.
I have a PowerTec leverage system at home which I use, and follow the program that is suggested, that is ONE set of warm up, followed by ONE set of 8-12 reps until failure. I have read a lot of articles which say that performing multiple sets provide little extra gain, and articles which promote multiple sets.
I am now looking to change my routine as I have reached a plateau (the gains I have are noticable and I am pleased), I have looked at a 5x5 routine (Bill Starr) and thought about that, but without a barbell it's a little difficult.
I eat plenty of food and have cut down on fats and eat healthily.
I would appreciate any guidance about what sort of routine I should now be following, my current (leverage) routine is as follows:
