Does eating at maintenece make you maintain your Bodyfat or Bodyweight?

Eating at maintenence is to maintain your bodyweight (which is the total of fat+lbm). If you maintain your bodyfat and increase LBM as you are suggesting, then you are not doing maintenence. You are doing a body re-composition. i.e. you are changing the composition of your lbm to fat ratio.

In order to grow lbm, you need to be in caloric excess. You cannot control nutrient partionining. I.e. you cannot control to which destination your body will send ingested calories. But you can optomise those cals for lbm growth with proper nutrient timing.

I also agree!

One can eat a maintenance level calories and do a body recomposition but maintenance means just that, maintain your bodyweight.

Why wouldn't you? If someone who is not exercising figures out their maintenance then it's going to be lower than a person same size as them that is exercising. Mainintenance isn't a cookie cutter number. Its figured individually.

2 people same height, weight, age etc.....one has is 10% Bf and the other is 15% bodyfat well.....they are going to have different maintenance for caloric needs.

okay, if you stop lifting your body wont maintain that muscle, but were saying if you continue to lift X amount, and eat your maintenance level, you wont gain or lose weight.

Why are there are so many growing kids that are obese? because they eat more cals than they require to grow. Thus making them fat. On the other side, there are teenagers that can eat a whole horse and still remain skinny. Such a person may not put on much fat if they are not eating too many cals. So eventually it comes down to cals in/cals out (in addition to genetics..etc).

What Ronnie Coleman eats to "maintain" his mass is entirely different than what regular mortals eat to maintain their mass in a given day.

Eat at maintenance and don't lift (expend much energy) means your "maintenance" requirements are less then when you do expend energy that day.

Maintenance....means nothing changes.

Put in an extra 300 cal of work means you will require an extra 300 cals to stay at roughly the same weight you are. It's not completely that cut and dry but that's the analogy.

slight aside...

Maintain 200 lbs of fat or 200lbs of muscle requires a certain amount of cals but the amount of cals will probably be different for both individuals because 200lbs of fat doesn't burn as much energy when the body is at rest versus the 200lbs of muscle (though the difference is less than previously thought). Their metabolisms likely run quite different.
Also, the out of shape person requires less exercise to work up to a target heart rate than a person "in-shape", meaning the out of shape individual can make more dramatic body changes in the same time period than the person in shape....all things being equal. Ie: once a bodybuilder gets to a certain level....it take all sorts of tricks to get the body to make even minor progressions and it takes a longer time period to invoke development. Partly why newbie gains are what they are.
A lot of people forget that they can hit homeostasis in cardio as well so that 30 mins doesn't do as much as it used to (if you keep doing the same old treadmill speed/duration)....which is why you need to apply the same periodization principles to cardio as you do to weight-training. Otherwise you're simply burning cals and not necessarily fat.

Are you sure about this? You have to be in a caloric excess to grow(height)?...
