How important is it?

how important is it to rest for a certain amount of time inbetween sets? huh? ..i do a warmups set and then i usually put on the weight i do then i rest for how long i need to until my next set. and usually when i go heavy and till failure,which is all the time i rest 1-2min.

1 min to 1.5 min hypertrophy 3-5 min for power

If I lift heavy I rest longer during sets.(2-3 minutes max) If I am on a light day, I only allow enough time for me to catch my breath and hit it again. (maybe 30 seconds) This is just me and not meant to be for everone else.
