can no-xplode and nitrix affect these? I was taking those two supplements then I stopped and started feeling depressed, mood swings headaces and not very much of an appetite? Whats the problem and how long will it take to feel normal I have been off of them a little over two weeks. Is it because it has affected my adrenal glands?

No sir, the problem is glutamine pathway induction of glutamate excess.

In the GI tract, it signals for excess CCK release, and this depresses appetite. Glutamate and its receptors, such as NMDA have been shown to play a critical role in the neurotransmitter imbalances behind mental depression. Glutamate is also an excitatory neurotransmitter in brain - it is likely to play a role in the mood swings you report as a side effect of using NOS (nitric oxide synthase) inducers - the supps you report using that gave these negative side effects.

In case you think I am bullshitting you, your headache is directly caused by low taurine in brain and excess NMDA receptor activation by glutamate (normally controlled by taurine and GABA - you are low in both of these counter excitatory compounds in both brain and liver). You also have upperbody tension, particularly in the chest, shoulders, neck and jaw, when you use these NO inducer supplements.

Avoid using excessive glutamine, orthinine, arginine, and citrulline supplements, for the same reasons.

Begin supplementing with 0.5-1 gram taurine, 2-4 times per day. Use magnesium citrate, 1/4 tsp couple times a day. Also use GABA, last half of the day, 1/4 tsp - reduce if this makes you feel excited (shouldn't, but every once in a while, clients report being very sensitive to GABA supplementation when their own endogenous production is very low).

I predict a high probability for the onset of gastric reflux or IBS in your future. Avoid use of insulin boosting supplements, including dextrose in your whey, you can and may develop insulin resistance as well. As bran (oat, barley, rice bran) fiber to whey drinks. Do not use glutamine boosted whey.

Almost an assured point: you have unusual fermentation micro-organisms in your colon. You also lack adequate soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet; one clearly helps promote the other (related condition, glutamate sensitivity and Gi disorders).

The use of the bran (couple tablespoons) in your whey will help re-establish normal gut bacteria. To this, add at least 3 servings of fiberous veggies to your daily intake of fiber.

Secondary complications: joint, skin inflammation.

Don't ask how I know this; its a long, long story.

JMHO but I think you should just stay off any supps for a bit. It can take a long time to muck up your adrenals and 2 weeks of feeling off while on these supps is not long enough to cause issues to your adrenals.

IMHO, I say lay off the supps and let your body regulate itself again.

Any stimulant can assist with adrenal issues however, it's not the sole cause. I learned this from my ND as I do in fact have adrenal issues that was brought on by years and years of stress, overworking, overexertion, stimulant use etc...

It takes a while of built up stress etc... like above, to cause an effect on your adrenals. Some of more prone to it than others like anything else. But 2 weeks of a supp is not enough time to cause much, if any problem.

To be honest I don't know. Any supp, as far as I know, can effect your system over long term use.

Massive misnomer here: This is neurochemistry, as well as liver and gut chemistry. This has very little to do with adrenal biochemistry.

Good question. Combination of drivers. First, there is a precursor condition in about 40 percent of the populace: a glutamate hydrogenase enzyme polymorphism, meaning that the basic enzyme is slightly altered in amino acid sequence, and this changes the binding site of glutamate, and therefore, its enzyme reaction rate. Its less effective than it should be. Glutamate levels then may locally become excessive as a result. This causes a buildup of calcium ion, the natural second messenger action to glutamate. Why? Because glutamate has two roles in brain and select other tissues: its a local energy source (in place of glucose) and its a chemical messenger.

Second, the HPA (hypothalamus/pituitary/adrenal axis) becomes hypersensitivte, a result of a either chronic stress and/or abuse of stimulants, either to induce long periods of intense focus for studying or for weight loss (or both).

Boilermaker: Would CEE be included in this group.

Answer: No. Creatine *must* be used regularly in order to buildup sufficient gene receptor stimulus to "turn on" its transport (from out cell membrane to the internal reaction site where it is phosphorylated).

Secondary prerequisites: intercellular phosphate stores and proper transport of ions and water in and out of cells, plus pH control (from NAC).

What you must have: good production of NAC from dietary cysteine or sparing use of it as a supp for a while PLUS regular cardio. No cardio, no benefit from creatine use.

SORRY to reserect an old thread.

I am having some of the same responses as he author of this thread.

I have read and I am looking online right now but when trouble says " adding 2 TBSP of oat bran or rice bran fiber to whey shakes that will help blunt the response and help repopulate the gut" is she talking about regular oat bran or products like this

I usually have my shakes as part of my P+F meals so wouldn't adding oat bran fiber spike insulin? ( which is not what we want with P+F meals).

as always I look forward to troubles enlightening solutions for these probs.
