What is the difference?

is it just that when doing a bent row, your body is kept closer to parallel to the ground?

yea yates row, is just more upright

k thanks man

At 16 you are over thinking it. Just be consistant and stick to compound movements 90% of the time 1 or 2x a week and it will be all good. And EAT!!!

Yates row is a little more upright. You also use a reverse grip... IMO Yates rows are superior.

I can't see on being more superior then the other in my humble opinion. I would suggest alternating them week to week. Reason being, you're chaning angles and hand postion. Ultimately hitting the target muscles slightly different and adds a little change to the routine. Change is good. Keep your routine fresh. Alternate weekly or bi weekly for example. You will get good muscle growth from both or either one if you choose only one. you can't go wrong with either form of bentover row.

I think the different articulations actually shift the focal points slightly...Instead of hitting the same muscles from different angles that is. IMO yates rows are going to involve the traps and rear delts less and the biceps more.

I also like both though. Right now I am doing bent rows in my program. Perhaps I'll switch to yates rows sometime when I decide to change some things.

That is a joke right, the 'curling' rack?

I doubt that is her final set, and she is hardly loaded with chalk. She has a little dust on her hands, and she looks a lot more built than some guys I've seen in the gym. I'd train with her.

What's wrong with bending over more? I like to bend over pretty far, otherwise you are just reducing the resistance.

As far as effectively hitting the muscles or safety?

Posted by: juggernaut

well i would imagine hitting the muscles would best be suited for regular rows, and for the yates-safety.

Yeah, I don't get my torso as far as parallel to the floor, but I do get a little lower than the woman in the picture. At a certain point I start to feel a strain in my lower back, especially with a supinated grip.

Posted by: juggernaut

i'm wondering though, if you can get the same degree of development with the yates row as opposed to the regular bent over row.
