Boston Red Sox... self-destructing

I just find it so suprising how fast things can go down the shitter.

Just a few weeks ago, all of a sudden Boston seemed to begin to self-destruct. Getting swept by the Yankees, pushing them far out of the standings, to the numerous player injuries/conditions.
Ortiz suffering from heart palpitations
John Lester diagnosed with cancer, but described as treatable
Papelbon throwing out his shoulder

As a big Boston fan, I just find this to be crazy. It almost seems like this isn't happening - so much went wrong in so soon... just nuts! Shows how nothing is concrete in baseball until the last pitch is thrown.

Waste of a season that showed great potential early on. I think it started with the Royals series when we were swept. And then came the Yankess series. Wakefield and Clement getting hurt before all that was what killed me. Then all the stuff in the past few weeks just added to the demise, but that was after the fact. The East is out of reach so the only thing us Sox fans can hope for now is a Wild Card, but we're 6.5 out and we got Taveras throwin against Garland tonight

I'm still keeping my hopes up... they are, after all, the comeback kings of baseball.

The only reason to watch the Sox at this point is to see what Big Poppy can do. Their season is over.

It's a pisser the way they've tanked, but did any Sox fans really expect them to do much when the season started? I thought it was general knowledge that 2006 was going to be a transition year.

I thought they were going to do good this year, so did a couple a of members here.

I am going to miss seeing these 2 teams play for something.

I wasn't impressed with boston after the winter months. As much as I hate to say this I thought NY looked really good.

And if the Jays could win on the road they would be right up there.

Let's see. I think there were a couple of them.

The Red Sox will overcome the Yankees this year, and the Jays, with Burnett and Chacin starting the year on the DL, will finish no better than third.

Boston can still win 95 games if they win their last 19.

If they pull off that miracle, they could wind up with the wild card spot.
