Posted by: fUnc17

Posted by: Bakerboy

Wow! A 971# deadlift. Crazy! Do you think anyone will ever hit 1000#'s

Posted by: Raz

^^^ Was the same guy wasn't it? P, didn't you mention double overhand grip is the best for DL's? Notice this monster uses an underhand grip.

Posted by: DOMS

Did you notice that when Magnussun dropped that 937 that the camera shook all the way across the stage.

Posted by: KataKlysm954

that dude in the black shirt/ red boots is a fucking mad man he could life a fucking car i bet!

Posted by: CowPimp

When did Bolton break that record? That was fucking awesome. I like the showboating afterward too. What grip strength!

Good lifting, bad music.

Truly amazing. Shit I have a hard time picking my wife off the floor when she's drunk and she only weighs 100 lbs.

Whoops forgot to say she is kicking me in the nuts when I attempt such a feat

yes, i think andy bolton will hit it.

Posted by: fufu

I thought I saw a vid of Magnusson getting a 1001 lb lift or something. Guess not.

was the same guy as what? those were two different guys.

I said that overhand grip was the SAFEST. These guys aren't really concered with safe...just look at them and even their pulls (some round back stuff going on there).

Check out Brad Gillingham deadlift. He pulls with an overhand grip (a hook grip). He has an amazingly strong grip though.

Zavitkus did like 1010 but it was hummer tire deadlift (which is like an 18" deadlift) in a world strong man event. that is not the same as a powerlifting deadlift.

you homos should hang out with bigdyl and play records all night and hold hands.

Posted by: Bajenman88

That vid was fuckin' sick! Look at those guys going nuts before their lifts, lol, nothing like getting in the zone.

it would be funny to see they're reaction to miss the lift, after all that show boating.

don't count out konstaninovs. he's in lighter weight class than ben and bolton, and he pulled 948.

yea. he is an awesone deadlifter too. he could possibly do it.

Posted by: Bakerboy

I wish I was deadlifting tomorrow, that vid fired me up. The more I look at it the more I am blown away by it. They deadlift over double what I can do, I feel like such a wimp. How the hell can they lift that much???

Posted by: wilwn

haha they deadlift many many times what i can do...

i usually get really excited the night before deadlift.

Posted by: Mudge

Pantera! I know one of the boards some of the Team Sniffy guys hang out at. Anyhow, I do believe the deadlift record is 973 or 974 currently, set a few months back, but I could be wrong.

A March 4, 2006 interview with Andy tells of his desire to get his deadlift record back. Pre or post record? I dont know.

3/4/2006 971.1 pounds Andy Bolton

Posted by: Mudge

I think I must be thinking of 2005 battles, or else a non-official lift.

i think he was referring to record of 970lb at the time, which was set in the video by magnusson.

Looking at that list I gotta say.....Who cares about any of these guys....Lets talk about how bad ass Ed Coan is!! Friggin huge deadlifts and 100+lbs lighter then some of these guys. he is the man. Coan and Brad Gillingham are my guys in powerlifting.

Yea no doubt, lol. I'd stay out of the way, that's for sure

Magnusson looks like he's been sniffing glue right before he pulls.

I like Chuck Vogelpohl a lot too. That guy is definitely a monster. He might be a bit of an equipment whore though, I dunno.

fuck that....

Coan and Gillingham train RAW. The lift in the USAPL....that means they have to unrack the weight themself, walk it out and squat...none of this get set up with an ultra wide stance in the monolift and do a half squat (barely hittiing parallel).

I got much more appreciation for those guys then the others. especially after reading some of the articles in the recent MILO were the old time powerlifters were going off on the age of "lifting gear" and big numbers.

Fair enough, but I still give him props. The guy trains like a fucking maniac.

I thought this was pretty impressive too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4--PS9-Hw8

The guy squatted 1K in the 198 weight class. Yeah, he was geared, but he also squatted 7xx raw, which is pretty impressive for a 200 pounder!

Posted by: CowPimp

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...318&q=sam+byrd

Better angle. Reasonable depth for a PL record. Some of them are so questionable.

but that isn't vogelphol.

I'm aware that's not Vogelpohl, I just thought this guy was badass too. Vogelpohl was the first to squat 1K at 220, and this guy was the first to do it at 198. I was just on that train of thought.

Like I said though, Byrd gets serious carryover from his equipment as well. That suit gives him almost 300 pounds on his squat. Still, a 7xx raw at around 200 is awesome!

Here's Chuck doing that squat of 1000 @ 220:
http://www.irongame.com/videos/Chuck...1000SQ@220.ram

He can also deadlift quite a bit, which is a lift suits don't help you with much (And the only reason no one has cracked 1K on it yet). Here he is pull 795 in the same meet @ 220:

yea, he is a strong guy. deadlifting that much weight is no joke. I would like to see the squat from the side to see the depth. he moved about 2" though with his stance that wide. still, it is impressive to have that weight on your back and not friggin' crumble.

It isn't that i don't think what he does is cool. But, i don't put him in the same class as guys like Coan and Gillingham. Coan deadlifted 900+ as a 220!

Oh don't get me wrong, I think Coan and Gillingham are animals. No doubt. I just happened to mention another powerlifter that I respect; there are plenty of them. Like I said, you have to see Vogelpohl train. He's a fucking animal in the gym. That's one of the reasons I respect him.

Really, I have to give all elite powerlifters their props. It seems to me there are a good number of bodybuilders who get by on drugs alone with a subpar training ethic, relatively speaking. To be good in powerlifting, or any real sport for that matter, you have to train your fucking ass off and give it your all. Genetics and drugs aren't enough.

can you get copies?

Are they DVD or video tape?

I always wanted to buy it, but from what i hear, the westside BB videos are some of the shittiest quality you can get. It is like guys working out and Louie walking around with his home video camera.

Spot them? Spotting is for failures. If they don't complete the repetition, then they are punished by getting their ass out from under the bar on their own.
