Wow! A 971# deadlift. Crazy! Do you think anyone will ever hit 1000#'s
^^^ Was the same guy wasn't it? P, didn't you mention double overhand grip is the best for DL's? Notice this monster uses an underhand grip.
I thought I saw a vid of Magnusson getting a 1001 lb lift or something. Guess not.
That vid was fuckin' sick! Look at those guys going nuts before their lifts, lol, nothing like getting in the zone.
don't count out konstaninovs. he's in lighter weight class than ben and bolton, and he pulled 948.

Pantera! I know one of the boards some of the Team Sniffy guys hang out at. Anyhow, I do believe the deadlift record is 973 or 974 currently, set a few months back, but I could be wrong.
A March 4, 2006 interview with Andy tells of his desire to get his deadlift record back. Pre or post record? I dont know. 3/4/2006 971.1 pounds Andy Bolton |
I think I must be thinking of 2005 battles, or else a non-official lift.

it would be funny to see they're reaction to miss the lift, after all that show boating.
Looking at that list I gotta say.....Who cares about any of these guys....Lets talk about how bad ass Ed Coan is!! Friggin huge deadlifts and 100+lbs lighter then some of these guys. he is the man. Coan and Brad Gillingham are my guys in powerlifting.
I like Chuck Vogelpohl a lot too. That guy is definitely a monster. He might be a bit of an equipment whore though, I dunno.
you homos should hang out with bigdyl and play records all night and hold hands.

fuck that....
Coan and Gillingham train RAW. The lift in the USAPL....that means they have to unrack the weight themself, walk it out and squat...none of this get set up with an ultra wide stance in the monolift and do a half squat (barely hittiing parallel). I got much more appreciation for those guys then the others. especially after reading some of the articles in the recent MILO were the old time powerlifters were going off on the age of "lifting gear" and big numbers. |

Fair enough, but I still give him props. The guy trains like a fucking maniac.
I thought this was pretty impressive too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4--PS9-Hw8 The guy squatted 1K in the 198 weight class. Yeah, he was geared, but he also squatted 7xx raw, which is pretty impressive for a 200 pounder! |
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...318&q=sam+byrd
Better angle. Reasonable depth for a PL record. Some of them are so questionable. |
but that isn't vogelphol.
that is sam byrd. that guy is a friggin' awesome raw lifter! another one of my favs. Props to Byrd. |
I'm aware that's not Vogelpohl, I just thought this guy was badass too. Vogelpohl was the first to squat 1K at 220, and this guy was the first to do it at 198. I was just on that train of thought.
Like I said though, Byrd gets serious carryover from his equipment as well. That suit gives him almost 300 pounds on his squat. Still, a 7xx raw at around 200 is awesome! Here's Chuck doing that squat of 1000 @ 220: http://www.irongame.com/videos/Chuck...1000SQ@220.ram He can also deadlift quite a bit, which is a lift suits don't help you with much (And the only reason no one has cracked 1K on it yet). Here he is pull 795 in the same meet @ 220: http://www.irongame.com/videos/Chuck...l795DL@220.ram |
yea, he is a strong guy. deadlifting that much weight is no joke. I would like to see the squat from the side to see the depth. he moved about 2" though with his stance that wide. still, it is impressive to have that weight on your back and not friggin' crumble.
It isn't that i don't think what he does is cool. But, i don't put him in the same class as guys like Coan and Gillingham. Coan deadlifted 900+ as a 220! |
Someone I work with has videos with him training, but I don't, no.
can you get copies?
Are they DVD or video tape? I always wanted to buy it, but from what i hear, the westside BB videos are some of the shittiest quality you can get. It is like guys working out and Louie walking around with his home video camera. |
I'll ask him. I'll probably see him on Monday; I'll try and remember.
lets limit marijuana smoking this weekend so that we can allow that last part to happen.

Haha! I actually haven't even smoked in a couple weeks. I haven't had time really. My memory just sucks balls early in the morning. I can't even remember how to wipe my ass properly.
that sucks for your early AM clients that need a spot on the bench press.
LOL ...
ever spot someone with bad breath? its a constant battle between leaning backward away from the smell and making sure your still spotting them |

Spot them? Spotting is for failures. If they don't complete the repetition, then they are punished by getting their ass out from under the bar on their own.
