Has anyone managed to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time?

Me, ive been sitting around maintenance recomposing for the last 18 months or so. I say i average a 7/10 for effort and consistancy.

Me, though I just stopped losing fat and started bulking. I'm gaining a lot faster while bulking. I think you're better of bulking first and cutting later, not at the same time.

I agree, I want to drop another 15 lbs or so then start the pig out.

So how much fat is one likely to gain while bulking?

Or is it all about getting exactly what i need to put on pure mass?

I do worry about the risk fat gain but want to make the most of my time in the gym, by doing the right thing nutritionally.

Oh yeah... When I was younger I made quick and dramatic changes in both areas at once. I spent 2+ hours a day in the gym however. Weights 6 days a week and cardio close to the same. Hormones are a beautiful thing. I was 16-17 and my body is kicking them into overdrive. No way I could train that way now and not be exhausted and over-trained...

I am currently in the process of doing it again. I stopped training for a good stretch and over ate. Hopefully this time I'll see the same great results... Or even better. You can do it! (As the guy from the waterboy says...)

its normally one or the other. You are either bulking or cutting. Its hard to put on good solid muscle while staying good and lean.

I know someone who is right now.

Once I did, around when I was still a noob I suppose. Now I am successfully putting on muscle w/o the fat. Atleast noticable fat.

I've done it before. It's not very hard if you're young and new to lifting. In a year I've lost 50 pounds and gone leaps and bounds in strength, which I'm assuming has added a decent amount of muscle.

I'm still managing to do that... but only after 7 months of begining my natural training. I've dropped 3/4" in six weeks on my waist. My BP has increased ever so slightly while my upper arms have increased an 1/8". I've only lost 7 lbs. of body weight since I started, but my waist has decreased by 6".

But, the margins are quickly narrowing! I'm reaching my first "plateau", I believe.

I'm simple. So my simple plan is to increase my bodyweight (continue my training style) by 5-10 pounds over the next 3 months. I'll monitor my "fat store (waist)". It's difficult, but I'll add 2-3 extra "protein shakes" a day and an extra small meal.

I'm really interested in new, and odd, excercises... unusual pace to shake my body up again.

The investment grows, doesn't it?
