Eating 4/5 meals a day consisting of:

Lean protein/lettuce or green veggies/ fruit
Ie chicken breast/ lettuce/banana
steak/broccoli/apple

Just wondering if you really needed to eat rice/yams/ etc

Any ideas?

that is pretty low on the carb end. Why only fruit as your carb? Why not more diverse sources, brown rice, beans, I like whole wheat pasta, whole grain couscous with milled flax seeds I like a lot too, oatmeal, whole grain breads, cerals like uncle sam, ezikial, etc...

Just wondered if carbs were essential or if you could 'get away' with just fruits and veggies. I guess not. Never heard of Uncle Sams cereal. Wud you consider 'granary' or 'wholemeal' to be whole grain?

Yep, you're going to need a fairly good amount of clean carbs to bulk/gain weight... I probably consume at least 200g's even when I'm trying to lose weight, and anywhere from 300-500 when gaining weight, but of course, that's going to vary from person to person, as well as how it factors in to your total calories.

Add a sweet potato to a few meals and have oats for breckfast.

so you all increase the amount of clean carbs quite a bit along with everything else? The reason I ask is because I need some ideas to add to my dinner lol. I usually eat brown rice as part of my dinner, would whole grain pasta in addition to that be too many carbs for a meal?
