I am having surgery for a ruptured achilles (hopefully tomorrow).

8 weeks in an equine plaster.

8 weeks of crutches, good thing I do need to build up my chest and delts.

Does anyone have any healing and scar reduction tips?

Anyone else have achilles surgery?

I was always told to get the Vitamin E gel capsules
poke a hole in them and rub the liquid contents on my scars...

Also there was a paste called, Hmmm...
"Surgeons Friend" or something like that, IDK if they have it in the UK...
it worked pretty well, though I still have scars.

IMO the only way to avoid them, is to have a plastic surgeon stich you up -

Here are some ideas

Good luck! -

Depending on what it looks like after, I may get a plastic surgeon to deal with the scar.

I was given clips or staples, which are thought to be better for healing, fewer scars.

I have gross pics when I had my cast changed yesterday!

NO wonder they gave me morphine at first.

Monkey, Why not just get Vitamin E Oil? are the gel caps supposed to be better/more effective? I think a good VitE Cream should be just as effective.

Tatyana, OUCH! that looks painfull. Hope you recover soon.

how did you do it?

as far as scaring goes, once you get the plater off your leg, are you going to go to physical therapy? They will help break up the scar tissue and give you things like ultra sound and stim.

Bike (motor) crash.

I am going to be getting physio in the hospital I work in.

They are a bit concerned as I was getting physio, and I saw one two days after the crash.

He didn't catch that my achilles was ruptured and told me to start 'walking normally', and I didn't have it repaired as quickly as the surgeon would have liked.

8 weeks in a plaster with it being changed every two weeks to a more walking position.

Might want to up glutamine levels since it aids in recovery of tissue if you do not have glutamate conversion problem.
Bromealean - also helps repairs after surgery can not remember exact amount ( be curious to see if your body is craving pineapples afterwards.)
vitamin C 1000 mgs several times a day in ester C form
arnica montana is also good for dealing with recovery as well.
Wobzyme is excellent for surgical recovery will help reduce inflammation, aids in healing

It was funny when I used to work in health food store women would come in with this specific formula used by plastic surgeons and it used to embarass the hell out of customers when I told them "oh you are getting augemented surgery" and there mouths would drop to the floor Lol

since you are going all naturalelle Gh is out ...
