THere is a HUGE debate about diet drinks.

There is some research that suggests that people who drink a lot of diet drinks are fatter.

I couldn't diet without diet soft drinks though, and I do think the 'poison is all in the dosage'

It contains aspertame which is supposed to be pretty bad with chronic use. With most things, you'll be fine in moderation like Iain said.

When I drank soda, I drank only diet. 1 or 2 a day. I have pretty much always had high blood pressure. stopped soda, 2 months later, perfect blood pressure. Also there is new evidencs linking genetically altered citric acid with the fungus now known to actually be cancer.

I see next to nothing wrong with any of these products. Someone once brought up that there was an unneccessary insulin spike which could be bad - but i havn't found any journals stating that.

Another is that people say that they're bad because the body thinks it's about to get a load of carbs - then doesn't and thus induces craving and indirectly causing you to consume more carbs. I say because of having these drinks it relieves insanity and allows me to resist carbs.

In the journals i've read - there's been next to nothing linked to aspartame.

Caffeine i'd say is the only thing to watch, as it causes you to excrete more water and subsequently the body may lose abit more vitamin C, B vitamins and minerals. that's with some realy high quantities - so yeah drink the caffeine ones when you need the caffeine hit, and the non caffeine ones other wise.

Diet drinks, saccharin, aspartame are a god send.

Diet sodas do contain Aspartame and Acesulfame Postassium. So? They are derived from the amino acid phenylalanine. So? Well, there is a medical condition called Phenylketonuria, in which people unable to process this amino acid. This could lead to mental retardation in children.
So? People who suffer of Phenylketonuria will break down the Aspartame into the amino acid phenylalanine and that's when the problem starts.
If you do not have this medical condition there's no problem with drinking diet sodas sweetened with Aspartame or Acesulfame Potassium.
So don't be afraid of drinking them because of the sweeteners.

God! If my nutrition professor could read this, she would be so proud of me! Lol

Beer is my favorite, but I like martinis and wine on occasion. Vodka and Sprite works well in a pinch.

The winter brews are starting to hit shelves.

I have a hard time finding Octoberfest beers. I had a good one several weeks ago in TGI Fridays. I think it was sam adams. It was great on tap!

Sam's Octoberfest is good stuff. Octoberfest is tough to find on tap. Plenty of it in beer stores though.
