What's the best PWO carb source to eat right after a workout?

There has been alot of talk about this. Some say quick carbs like sugars that come out of juice and things like that. But more people have turned torwards complex carbs like oats and things like that. Personally I like complex carbs, but every now and then I go for some simple carbs because I am a bum and like the taste.....haha

Yougurt. Skim Milk, Oatbran, and some berries

See personally I've always gone with oats but there's always people who say the high GI carbs are beneficial...if the benefit is debatable either way, I might switch to the high because it's the only time really when I can eat a lot of them and not have it affect my progress, you know?

Jodi would be a great one to ask about this.

One way to find out is to try it.
But is your Bodytype?

I'm 6'6, lean, thin, very low bodyfat %

It depends on your goals and your bodytype. Ectos and Mesos who are bulking can do well with a fair amount of simple carbs. Everyone else is better off with a small amount of simple carbs and a larger amount of complex carbs.

Simple carbs seem to work just fine for myself. However, trial and error seems to be the best approach, and some kind of mix between low/high GI carbs also seems prudent even if you do go for the insulin spike.

Why not 1 1/2 scoops protien, 8 oz. water, 1/2 oats and 2 tbl. dextrose.

I have 2 scoops protein, 1 cup of oats, a low fat yogurt and a banana in 350ml water as a PWO shake.
Seems to work well.

Haha, I have been eating 8 plates of chinese buffet after every workout. Shit is off the chain!

is it ok to pre-mix a shake (blend before going to the gym) with choc why, plain yogurt, and oats? Do you think this would taste ok, and how much (if any) water should I add? Will the taste of the plain yogurt (yucky) be neutralized by the whey? I heard that the yogurt will make it thick and has lots of nutrients but I don't want it to make it taste bad.... any suggestions?

Plain yogurt doesn't really have much of a taste once it goes into a shake, which is why people put it in recipies to add a creamy texture without overflavoring... anyhow... Try two scoops of lean whey, oats, and make your high GI carbs be a completely ripe banana. Mix this with water or skim milk. You'll do great. Another good carb option is berries, they are flavor dominators in shakes, big time.
Oh and pre-mixing would be a good idea since you'll want that shake about 20 minutes after your workout. Not sure what your gym situation is but most people would be hard pressed to get home, mix the shake, and drink it in the time frame.

i know high gi is the norm, but i am not such a fan of that. malto and dex are typical, oats are better.
i would prefer palatinose and glycine, but thats me.
