Michigan by alot more than people expect

Posted by: JerseyDevil

Ohio State by a little more then people expect

Posted by: goandykid

the line is 6 1/2

Posted by: JerseyDevil

Yeah? And I'm saying more then 6-1/2.

Posted by: goandykid

Thanks, I like to think it is too.

Posted by: JerseyDevil

Trust me. I've seen this game go Michigan's way too many times.

Honestly, I think it's a 50/50 shot.

Posted by: goandykid

My last post was a joke about my penis.

Posted by: JerseyDevil

It that case, it'll be less then 3.

Posted by: P-funk

I can't wait for this game. Go OSU!!

Posted by: Double D

I dont care anymore, lets just get it overwith! It has been nonstop coverage of this for the past 2 weeks. Gettin kinda old.

Posted by: goandykid

Maybe not. If its close we might see a rematch in the national championship, both teams are so far ahead in all raknings.

Posted by: Double D

I dont see that happening. The loser is done. USC will be there if they win out.

Posted by: goandykid

USC sucks, their love affair w/ the BCS is the main reason the BCS should be dropped.

Posted by: Double D

Doesnt matter what we think, they are always there and will be again. I dont like them either, but the bcs does.

Yes, I would even say Florida or ND will get in before the loser of this game.

Posted by: Double D

ND maybe, I dont see Florida having a shot though. To many factors. But ND has a shot with Texas as well, but I dont know, is Texas still undefeated?

Posted by: goandykid

I think Florida will lsoe again before their season is over. ND was shat on by Michigan, I don't see how they would if the 'Game of the Century' is close tmorro.

Texas is done, 2 losses

BTW RIP Bo in this thread

I disagree.

In 2003 USC was easily the best team in the country. LSU played Oklahoma in the BCS championship game. Oklahoma had no right being in that game, after losing their own conference championship game. LSU won the BCS national championship and USC was voted AP champion.

USC has lost a total of 4 regular season games from the begining of 2002 until now, and is 3-1. They have 1 BCS championship and 2 AP championships over that time. Not to mention 3 Heisman trophy winners to boot. They are easily the Elite program in the country since 2002.

The BCS sucks, period. But USC hasn't gotten anything they haven't deserved. If anything, the BCS is responsible for having one less National Championship trophy in their case.

You are correct, but standings do not relate to prior years. They don't deserve to be number 3. They barely won their last few games before their loss, and play in the PAC10

Florida will prob get in before ND, provided they beat FSU, and win the SEC championship over Arkansas or Auburn.

Posted by: goandykid

I still believe that the only teams that could threaten a rematch(barring a blowout) are Florida, USC, Arkansas, or Rutgers.

Rutgers would have to run the table, highly doubtful.

Florida has to run the table and win the SEC.

USC has to play Cal still, but don't deserve the 3 spot.

Arkansas would have to win their division AND the SEC

You have to remember, the BCS standings mean nothing until the regular season is over. If USC wins out over Cal and Notre Dame I would certainly put them in the championship game over the loser of Mich v OSU.

Posted by: goandykid

ND is overranked too, and doesnt Cal have two losses, one being a blowout loss to a 3-loss Tennessee? Thus my point, Michigan and Ohio State are head and shoulders above ND and USC, neither deserve to play there. If this game was in Week 1 theyd both be 1 and 2 again. Or atleast should be.

I don't there is anyway voters will only drop Michigan/ OSU loser to number 2, unless somebody wins on the last play of the game.

Don't forget OT

That would be the only way I believe a rematch would be justified, due to college footballs shitty overtime system. It would be a shame to decide this hyped up game in that kind of ot.

Posted by: goandykid

I like college football's system a WHOLE lot more than the NFL's, at least it gives both teams a shot.

I jsut wish the BCS worked in a playoff format

They are both crap. The logical solution is to just to kick off and give each team equal posessions.

I don't like college at all. You put the offense in scoring position automatically, it puts the defense at an immeadiate disadvantage. It takes a lot out of the game. At least in the Pros you have to drive into scoring position. And they claim that only 50% of the time the team that gets the ball first wins.

I doubt that its 50/50, but even if it were, many games still come down to a coin flip. I like the college way, it's more exciting, but I think they should make them start at the 50 instead. College def needs playoffs tho

I just don't like the idea of changing the way the game is played from regulation to ot, especially when a loss means as much as it does in college football. You completely eliminate the return game and field position from the game.

Posted by: lnvanry

so does Rutgers have a shot at the championship or what?

they had a pretty tough sched too?

If they get shafted with a perfect season beating the number three team (louisville) screw the BCS.

If Rutgers beats WVU they have a gripe. Will it matter... probably not!

And what about Boise State???

Posted by: goandykid

And that's why we need a playoff. If Arkansas, Florida, USC all lose and Rutgers beats WVU then they would be number 2 I believe if the Michigan vs OSU game is lopsided.

Posted by: Double D

Boise state is there every year and each year they never get anything out of it. They need to improve their strength of scheledule if they want a shot.

Posted by: P-funk

God, i wish the OSU v. Michigan game would start already. I have been waiting all week for this game!

Posted by: Seanp156

OSU ftw! Ha, many other people at work are just crowded around a big screen projector watching the game right now.

Posted by: Double D

What time does this start? I am at work and cant see it. But I sure have heard more than I want to in the past 2 weeks!

Posted by: Seanp156

It just started like 20 mins ago.

Posted by: P-funk

It just started. Michigan stuck first with a TD on the opening drive. OSU has the ball at the 50 right now.

Sean- I bet it is crazy down there. A few of my friends went down to Columbus today (from Cleveland) for the game.

Posted by: Double D

Thanks P....keep me posted.

It's not crazy where I am... There's like 3 people in the fitness room besides me.... I'm lucky there's 6 TV's up here.

It's definately crazy down at the Stadium and on campus though! One of the Columbus cops I train with is working from 9am-11pm today at tailgate parties making sure the drunkards don't go crazy.

I want to be one of the drunkards!!!!

Yep OSU has stepped it up and are making Michigan look like second stringers.

That was a pretty sweet play-action.

Should have been a penalty though.

Posted by: IainDaniel

28-14

They are just picking apart the michigan back field.

Posted by: P-funk

What a great half! Off to get some food before the 3rd quarter.

What do you guys want? Subs from Quizno's or Burritos from Chipoltle? I think I may go to Quizno's today.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Both and a case of beer.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Troy Smith just dominated that first half.

80% pass completion for 241 yds.

Quizno's yes But they changed the subs about a year ago, and I haven't been back. They got cheap on it.

Chipolte's no

Come on bucks, keep it above 7.

How does the back up freshman running back, break that run.

If Michigan can't stop the run, this night will get longer for them!

Is anyone as shit-faced as I am??? And there is still UFC tonight... I'm in trouble.

I don't like how this half has started AT ALL!

Chipolte is fucking awesome.

Quizno's is genious. It is the fact that they take the extra time and love to heat the bread that keeps be coming back.

Posted by: P-funk

HOLY SHIT!!! DID YOU JUST SEE THAT!! Pitman is on fire!

The only thing remotely Mexican around here is Taco Bell, and that shit I refuse to eat.

Posted by: IainDaniel

How come it is only Michigan that is slipping on the new turf?

Posted by: Double D

No Taco Bell for you? You fine sir do not like dog food? What is wrong with you?

I however do like the chicken quesadillas. Only whenever I can get my buddy to make em, they are loaded with chicken!

I don't understand why they are calling it turf. It is real grass. It is just new sod. When I think turf, I think the carpet.

Yeah that, but howcome Ohio St. seems to be having no problems?

Shit if cleats were the problem they could have changed at half time.

Posted by: Double D

Well other than quesadillas it is pretty nasty. They have said that the meat at taco bell is the equivalent of dog food. How gross is that? Well except the chicken. A buddy works there and said it is fresh chicken for the most part.

who the fuck cares! the center just snapped the ball of Smith's head in the red zone and caused a turnover!!

Posted by: IainDaniel

I CARE, SURE YOU DON'T BELONG AT UCLA.

AND A TOUCHDOWN.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Fuck I gotta leave to play poker, they better have this game on, and they better buy the UFC.

Posted by: P-funk

No matter who wins.....The best part about this game is the heart that these kids paly with! You see those kids on the OSU sideline during that last goaline play? Everyone was jumping up and down. They friggin' love the game. That excitment is lost in the pro's. You have guys like Moss and TO who just ruin the game and have no friggin' spirit. These kids have so much spirit and are so excited to be there and have the opportunity.

WOW! What an amazing game.

If there is one thing to be said about this game...The best team won. This wasn't a case of Michigan lost the game for themselves. They played great. they just got beat. What a game. One of the best I have ever seen.

Posted by: the nut

Good game... Guess #2 will be USC's to lose!

I was surprised OSU ran all over them. A timely OSU pass rush was huge in this game. Tough call on the personal foul, but it was the right one.

Posted by: Double D

So OSU won?

I thought OSU controlled the game, and made the plays when they had to. OSU made a few mistakes to let Michigan hang around. Henne missed wide open receivers a few times. Could have been different if he made those plays. Troy Smith = Heisman.

Posted by: goandykid

Fuck. fuckfuckfuck

fuck.

Good game.

Posted by: goandykid

good call fatcat, sean

Posted by: Seanp156

- My brother in law and sister are so lucky... My sister is getting her PhD in Biochemistry at OSU and so she gets a really good deal on ALL the OSU home game tickets... They go to every home game pretty much every year and they were there today. They're also going to the national game in Arizona too.

EXACTLY!!!! This is why I LOVE college football. These kids play for the thrill, not a fat paycheck.

Posted by: JerseyDevil

Great game. Lived up to the hype for sure. Both teams played outstanding football.

Rematch in Tempe?

Nope wont be a rematch. I think the loser which from what I have heard was Michigan....wont be there. It will be USC.

You must be at work. Ohio State won 42-39, awesome game. Some of the talking heads said IF the OSU/Michigan game went down to the wire, and only by a couple of points, then there is a CHANCE Michigan would still go to the BCS, and that is exactly what happened. I honestly think they deserve it....

USC is always such a favorite by alot of people in the bcs.

Maybe, USC is losing right now

Posted by: Double D

No kidding who are they losing to? And whats the score?

they are playing Cal.

No worries though. They have just gone up by 2 TDs in the 4th quarter.

USC will be there in the end.

I hope there is a rematch. That was basically the Championships right there. What an awesome game. Ohio st. played alot better then how close the game was.

USC still has some tough games to close out the schedule.

Notre Dame

The game did not go down to the wire, IMO. OSU was in control. Michigan only had possesion with a chance to take the lead once in second half, and that drive was stopped well in their own territory. OSU took the ball, went down and put them up by enough. The went into the dreaded prevent and gave up the late TD.

This game means absolutely nothing if they rematch. College dosen't have a playoff system, so need to get as many different matchups as possible. I want to see how OSU does against the SEC champion or PAC 10 champion or ND, or Rutgers (OOPS, thank the football gods they lost). Michigan may or may be the second best team in the country. I would put the them 4 right now. But we already know that OSU better than them. Let's find if their better than the others.

I don't agree. Go back in the thread, I made the point that if anything USC has gotten screwed by the BCS in the past. The reason they always at the top is because the usually are one of the top 2 teams in the country. Who's to say that Michigan is definitely the second best team in the country. Why, because they played OSU tight, so did Illinois.

Here's the newest coaches poll which is half the BCS. Looks like Michigan will be third in line for the championship, behind USC, and the winner of the SEC. Best case senario is ND beats USC and Florida ( v FSU, SEC championship) and Arkansas ( v LSU, SEC championship) each lose a game. And, if ND should kill USC on the road they could possibly slip in. NCAA has a history of putting a team higher than a team that beat them, even when they have the same record. FSU over ND and Washington over Miami are 2 off the top of my head.

Coaches Poll
No. School Record Points Prev
1 Ohio State 12-0 1575 1
2 Southern California 9-1 1444 4
3 Michigan 11-1 1428 2
4 Florida 10-1 1407 3
5 Arkansas 10-1 1302 6
6 Notre Dame 10-1 1285 5
7 West Virginia 9-1 1151 7
8 LSU 9-2 1081 9
9 Wisconsin 11-1 1053 10
10 Texas 9-2 994 11

Very true, but in college it's who's the hottest team now, not what happened at the begining of the season. That being said, I'm probably the only Irish fan that thinks they should have no chance at all to get it.

Yea, Michigan will be hoping on Arkansas and ND wins. I don't think Florida would jmp both teams if they beat Arkansas though.

You never know, Harris computer rankings will favor the SEC champ because of strenght of schedule. If the coaches vote them as high as 3, it's gonna be damn close.

And don't underestimate FSU in this rivalry game.

Herbstreit jsut said there's no way Ark or FL has a shot anymore, style points. Down to USC, Michigan and OSU

and the Colts just lost.

All depends on the final coaches vote... Ironic that one of the top 3 games of the century so far, may mean absolutely nothing.

Posted by: goandykid

Haha thats true, I'd lvoe to see a split too.

Posted by: goandykid

And have it not be played on that POS you Buckeyes like to call a field.
