Rumors have it that the Jays are close to signing Frank Thomas to a 2 year deal worth close to 20 million.

WTF

Posted by: IainDaniel

Ok it is confirmed now, 2yr 20mil pending a physical.

Posted by: IainDaniel

They better fucking sign Vernon Wells before the end of the season.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

He had a great "comeback" season this past year. But is there any chance in hell he has two good productive seasons in a row without getting hurt?

Posted by: IainDaniel

I dunno he is 38 and to sign him for two years at 10mil a year seems crazy.

I just have a bad feeling.

Posted by: min0 lee

I thought both sides were happy in Oakland?

Posted by: IainDaniel

He was offered a contract at the end of the season, but said he wanted to explore the free agent market. and He found suckers in the Jays.

I believe the Yankees already have enough DHs.

This one must of slipped by the Yankees.

Don't we always?

I think Frank Thomas has a few more good seasons left in him. I can't believe Oakland traded him after riding his dick so hard last year and telling the media that he was the "face of the culb house and a real motivating factor for everyone".

Posted by: IainDaniel

He was a free agent and he rejected the A's offer to explore free agency.

Posted by: IainDaniel

I think the Turf at the dome will have a huge impact his injuries. But who knows.

A blade of grass would normally put him out of the season.

Posted by: I Are Baboon

The Big Hurt = Teh Big Ghey

Posted by: Mudge

Hmm, bummer. No more watching him in Oakland.

He's a DH. How much field time will he get?

Posted by: IainDaniel

The guy is prone to injuries, shit just walking on the field will probably injure him.

Posted by: goandykid

Did we ever hear the full story about the beef w/ him and the white sox?

it depends. I don't know how new the turf is in toronto, but they are really starting to make some nice turf surfaces these days that have some give and respond better, like real grass. It isn't like the 80s and 90s when a turf field was essentially a green rug lied down over concrete. that is how the injuries happened. the concrete had no give.

Posted by: IainDaniel

It is one of the newer grass like turfs. Just replaced like a couple of years ago, when Ted Rogers bought out the team

Posted by: ponyboy

Hey look, Toronto throwing too much money at a player that likely isn't going to perform. AJ Burnett anyone?

Posted by: Double D

If he can stay healthy he will still hit 30 homers and drive in atleast 85. I mean come on guys hes a big ole boy. But this is only if he stays healthy and I am not seeing that.

Pool anyone? I say knee or hammy trouble , 35th game mark.

Posted by: Double D

It is going to happen and you are right, when is the only question.

Meh another signing.

2 years just under $6mill

I opened this thread expecting to hear news that the big hurt is on the DL again.

Posted by: IainDaniel

I'll hurt you...

Posted by: min0 lee

Too late, the Giants already did that.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Yeah I really thought they had a chance this year(Well to win the NFC)

But injuries and and Eli's inmaturity has really hurt them.

I know, I thought they were going to win this one.
They scored easily and they looked to beat them till Plexiglass let that guy catch the interception and gave him a high 5 after that.

What a waste of so so talent, he could be so much better.

Oh and that half ass quarterback sack.....he must have thought it was 2 hand touch.

Posted by: min0 lee

Damn, Shocky has some big guns....

Posted by: IainDaniel

To blow a 21-0 lead at half time to Tennessee is a disgrace though. That could break any chance the team has of rebuilding this year, and making the playoffs.

They have a difficult schedule. Next Monday against Dallas, and Dallas is hot right now.

Posted by: min0 lee

For some reason I never felt that way, this current team has a way of letting this slip away, specifally the Strahorn led defense.

It's not like the LT defensive teams that would shut down a team or actually win one.

Welp that didn't last long.

He failed to show up last night, and the Jays are back in negotiations with Greg Zaun. I like Zaun he is a good dressing room guy. But a starting Catcher I don't think so.

Zaun already turned down a similar contract.
