I want some motivational experiences!

What the hell happened in your life to make you decide to "go for broke" in your fitness training?

Someone convince me to go through "six months of pure hell" in order that I might learn something about myself.

It's in me... I just need help to realize it.

what are your goals?

look at your pictures, I am sure you looked no were near that before you started.. thats not enough motivation?

"What the hell happened in your life to make you decide to "go for broke" in your fitness training?"

First let me say that IMO if your work out and you stick with it, you probably enjoy doing it...period.

I've always enjoyed working out. My problem was that when I started raising a family, worked longer and longer hours I began to forget how much I enjoyed working out and staying fit. Too many other things occupied my time.
What got me motivated to whip my ass back into shape was someone took a photo of me and I realized I began to look exactly like my Dad who is 30 years older than me. He was in great shape looking 10 years younger than he was and I was 30 lbs overweight looking 10 years older than I actually was.

You're right.

But, the next step will require "another level of dedication". Everything in my body and soul says "I have to do this!"

I just want to hear from those that have faced self-doubt and overcome.

I love working out. I look pretty good for a man my age. Events, of late, have made my program difficult to maintain.

I suppose I'm looking for a challenge "outside of myself". I'm a competitor in nature. I want someone to tell me... "you can't do this". That may make the difference!

Experiences?

Sounds like you're telling yourself "you can't do it" and want someone else to confirm it.

You know how the saying goes "If you think you can you probably will and if you think you can't you probably won't"

So just do it, or don't.

Posted by: Plateau_Max

Well first, figure out what kind of motivation you adhere to. Are you the kind of guy that hear's someone say "you can't do it" and you have to prove them wrong, or are you the kind of guy who hears "I bet you can do it" and is therefore encouraged to do so?

Consider what type of motivation works for you, could narrow down your search for a new source.

damn guys, he just wants some kind of inspirational story...if you don't have one STFU.

I personally have no cool stories. I do, however, suffer from depression...and working out has kept me alive and changed my destiny forever. At one time all I looked forward to was working out. Now I'm a trainer and I'm going back to school so I can make something of my life. I want to show everyone else how to make a difference in their lives as I have in mine.

hypocrite.

I know I can do it... I just want some to tell me I can't.

That's the "edge". You don't do something entirely through your own conviction. That's not enough, unless you're missing some bricks. Sane people need some outside influence.

Sanity is not fun.

Case in point. I suffer from depression. Working out does the same for me.
I have unrelated discernable talents but have become focused on the discipline (and rewards) that bodybuilding offers. I need this experience!

There is something so alluring about holding hundreds of pounds in my hand and manipulating it. Every time I crack a deadlift PR, I get psyched. I don't care about whatever the Hell else is going on in my life, I just picked up X number of pounds. For that moment I am a fucking badass; nothing can touch me. I am better than I was 3 weeks before that, and 3 weeks before that. I win.

You're old, you're depressed, you're overworked and you're not motivated. Shit you might as well quit now. Spend the time you have left doing something useful. We're talking about quality of life here man.

Disclaimer: This was in fact a response to jim saying 'I just want someone to tell me I can't do it'. It's not serious.

Totally. What are you like 75? There's no way you can keep up with us youngsters. You had your time and you blew it. Your body is decaying, your metabolism is slowing, your skin is wrinkling...
If I were you I would get a desk job and start saving up for a new hip.

You want us to motivate you? Do we look like your fucking baby sitters Private Pile? Do we look like your mommy? We probably do, it explains that ugly fucking mug on your face.

Just quit and eat the goddamned jelly doughnut...

(hope that helps )
