What the Heck Happened to Jeff Garcia?

It seems like once he was traded from San Fran, his career just went down hill. His short stint in Cleveland was awful and he looks like shit right now with Philly. It is like he doesn't know how to manage an offense anymore.

Posted by: Double D

Now that he was exposed as being gay by TO its been downhill since...haha.

I always thought he was gay, but when he was in Cleveland, he was getting married to a playboy playmate. I was stunned.

Posted by: Double D

Nice then thats what messed him up, the late nights with the sexy senorita messed with his head. Cant blame him if I was in waist deep with that shit the last thing I would give a crap about would be football!

Posted by: shiznit2169

I could say the same for ...

Aaron Brooks
Kerry Collins
Trent Dilfer
Brian Griese
Damon Huard
Brad Johnson
Jon Kitna
Ryan Leaf

I mean, not all great players in college are going to be great in the pros. Look at Brian Bosworth for example. He was an absolute beast in college but he sucked big time in the pros. They always talk about the time Bo Jackson drilled his ass into the endzone.

It's either make or break for every player. Tom Brady, a 6th round pick out of Michigan already has 3 superbowl rings.

Posted by: Dale Mabry

He had no weapons in Cleveland, and he has been essentially out of the game for 2 years.

Posted by: Double D

Ya but Garcia was pretty good at San Fran.

Same for Barry Sanders ... he was unbelievable but the Lions truely sucked during his time and they still do. He wanted to be traded but they refused so he retired. He probably would have broken all records held by Walter Payton, Jim Brown and so forth.

When he had someone to throw to and at least 1 guy in front to block for him.

Yeah, it must suck to be great, but then end up on a team that doesn't seem to have the desire to win. Good thing Eli dodged the Chargers.

Posted by: Doublebase

He's having a decent game tonight. Over 300 yeards 3TD's. 5 mins to go.

Posted by: IainDaniel

He was too scared to get demoted back to the CFL

Are we talking about the same Jeff Garcia?

Looked pretty good to me last night...

Good thing I picked him up and started him in fantasy last night.

That would be Man Mountain Mandarich.

Or after he stopped his steroid abuse and developed breasts,
Juggs Mandarich.

Wow yeah, that sucks.

Garcia got me more points last night than any of my QB's had all season... Which clinched me a 1st round bye in the playoffs!!

Nice, yeah I'm pretty bent about it. I needed that win to make the playoffs. The team I started got me 55 points and my bench scored me 170 points. I hate Rex Grossman. Fucking -4 points. It was my first year doing it. I had fun but I wish I made the playoffs. I now relize how important the draft is. I will be more prepared next year.

IMO Garcia did a great job last night.

He's done a great job in 3 games so far. He probably knows the West Coast offense better than Donovan does. Garcia was kinda forgotten about when ya think of it. He had great success in San Francisco (3 pro bowls) and then is shipped off to not one, but two struggling franchises. Put him in a proven system with a few stars around him and he's a top 10 QB, no doubt. Philly is still very much alive with him running the offense.

Is there a team other than the Eagles looking to sign him?

What happened to that OL the Raiders drafted first overall a few years back?

The Chargers have owned the draft lately.
2001 traded the #1 overall pick to the Falcons for the draft picks and Tim Dwight. They got Tomlinson, Cody, & Caldwell out of the deal.

2004 Traded Eli Manning to Giants for Philip Rivers and 3 picks. They got Merriman, Kaeding, and Britt.

How they doing?

Oakland took Gallery 2nd overall in the 2004, he's f'n horrible.

Remember when Mandarich wanted to fight Tyson...

Was the steroid testing laxed in college football back then? Bosworth and Mandarich seemed juiced to the gills in college, then came to the NFL and got run over.

I hope jeff can keep this up he looked real good last night...he should do even better against a garbage Redskins D

Really? I was wondering why I never heard of him since the draft. Then again, I don't hear of many offensive lineman.

What's his deal? Slow? Clumsy?

It was fun a few years ago when the crowd got the "AJ Feely" chants going when Donovan was playing like shit. Poor Donovan...

I agree though, Garcia is way better than Feeley.

He's started 4 spots on the line, and sucks out loud at all. But, he's still starting... could have something to do with the Raiders as a team.

I would love them to throw Feeley in for a couple of games. See how much they cheer for him after that.

I don;t see how difficult it is for teh fans to see. Look at the Dolphins, they suck shit and he was the 3rd QB after that shitfest last year and ended up getting cut.

What??? Have you looked at the Chargers and the Giants records lately???

He also cost the Giants three draft picks. The Chargers will be laughing all the way to the Super Bowl while Eli is one and done if he gets the Giants to the playoffs at all.

My entire fantasy season is going to hinge on that game. My opponent is going to start Romo, Barber III, Whitten and the Dallas D. I'm going to start Garcia, Reggie Brown and the Philly D.

Goooooo EAGLES!!!

I don't like either of those odds. If either team has a bad game, there is your whole fantasy team shot to hell.

I'm pretty close to that myself. I'm in the "super bowl" next week. I've got Philly D, Westbrook, and Garcia going. I love my birds!

Still in the playoff hunt

The Bears will be playing bench players next week, and if the Giants and falcons can lose out.

That was an ugly fucking game last night.

Only in the NFC

Posted by: goandykid

Yea I'm praying for the Pakcers as well.

Funny Doublebase, I'm cheerin for you guys this weekend...fuck dallas.

Having said that, I'm also cheering for Arizona, Detroit, Oakland, and whoever else holds a higher draft pick than the Skins right now.

Posted by: Egoatdoor

How 'bout them Eagles!!!!!! They kicked ass! And poor Terrell Owens...he's a dog, just without the fleas.

And the Packers in the playoffs? Who could have believed it? The Skins will beat the Giants and if the Pack beats the Bears, they're in and will probably play the Eagles in the Wild Card game.

Posted by: BigPapaPump68

I liked how everytime the eagles scored the camera men would focus in on T.O. and he would hang his head down. He leads the NFL with the most dropped passes.

That's the best part! I love watching TO cry on the sideline. Eagles are 2 for 2 in that department this year.

Posted by: Dale Mabry

He said they need to get him involved earlier. My guess is he didn't see the 2 cans of corn he dropped that any HS player could have caught.

I agree with that somewhat. They need to utilize him more in the game. After seeing those two drops though I would be afraid to throw to him. He is great on slants and screens. He still is a great receiver.

Posted by: ReproMan

If a player is leading the league in dropped passes I think I'd be less inclined to throw to him.

The Saints haven't been great at home this year and the Eagles have much more playoff experience. It'll be quite a Saturday night in the Big Easy.

That and the Pats/Chargers game will be the best games of the weekend.

Thats gonna be a close game.

Interesting that all the favorites won this weekend...

I like SD, Indianapolis, Chicago, and New Orleans

Posted by: Egoatdoor

I'm thinking it'll be a dog weekend.

New England: Coaching. Marty always blows it in the playoffs and Belichek is the best coach in the league with the best QB.
Philadelphia: Playoff experience. 2008 will be the Saints year.
Chicago: Lock of the week. Seattle on the road will not get lucky again.
Baltimore: Good defense trumps offense every time. This is my pick to win it all.

I hope your right. They have both proven alot this season, and it's going to be a dog fight.

Marty has very little coaching to do. Give LT the ball and let Merriman rip!

I don't like Phili at all.

I may be wrong, but it has happened too many times with this guy and right now, he'll have to show me different before I'm convinced.

Some dickhead on Quite Frankly just said "I want to see New Orleans beat Philadelphia this weekend." Stephen A. asks "why?" You don't need a brain to be on ESPN. They are there to generate controversy and get ratings.

Stephen A is an asshole, so I don't watch the show, or for that matter, much of the stuff on ESPN anymore.

I've seen the show 2 times, and both times it was an all black panel, and they were complaining about racism to some degree. That was enough for me not to tune in ever again.

Stephen Smith is from Philly and has an apologist for Alan Iverson and Michael Irvin, so I wouldn't be surprised that the show had an agenda in that they want Garcia to fail so McNabb doesn't look bad.

No *hit. The disgust of constant losing got to the guy. I damn sure would've liked to see him break every last one of em..

woulda coulda shoulda

If they hadn't gotten hurt, Gale Sayers and Terrell Davis could have broken all the records too. If he played a 16 game season, OJ could have run for 2500 yards in 1973.

Conjecture means nothing.

The Saints will learn from today. Another year of playing together and there are going to be tough next year. It does show how important home field advantage is, especially for dome teams, and they cannot afford bad loses like to the Redskins at home next year.
