At 34 but without any real joint complaints, would starting Glucosamine as a preventative measure for the future be worthwhile?

I use Glucosamine & Chondroitin, yes with the added stress on your joints from weight lifting it helps.
Glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate supplements are used to slow the progression of osteoarthritis — the deterioration of cartilage between joint bones — and to reduce the associated pain. A recent study sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) called the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Arthritis Intervention Trial (or GAIT study), showed that the combination of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate seems to be effective in osteoarthritis patients with moderate to severe knee pain, although not those with mild pain. Glucosamine is thought to promote the formation and repair of cartilage. Chondroitin is believed to promote water retention and elasticity in cartilage and inhibit enzymes that break down cartilage. In veterinary medicine, glucosamine and chondroitin, often in combination, are commonly used in the treatment of degenerative joint disease — typically in older dogs and cats as well as in horses.

Yeah I was wondering as it seems to be mainly targeted at people who already have osteo and cartlidge degradation with associated pain. I would like to do my best to prevent that as much as possible. Prevention is better than cure right?

there is no cure for bad cartilage, prevention isa must. take it.
