Ovechkin vs Brierre

(CLICK HERE here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

On December 2nd the Capitals played and beat the Sabres. Midway in the 2nd, Brierre of the Sabres skated up to his bench, dished the puck, and slowed down to switch for a line change. As he slowed down and dished the puck, Ovechkin, beloved around the league, amde a late hit that he admitted a mistake and a mental lapse, about a second after Brierre dished the puck. Not a hard hit, but it sent Brierre into the boards, sparking a shrot melee.

The fucking Sabres are playing the Caps right now, and AFTER AO publicly and privately apologized to Brierre and the Sabres, Brierrre came out in the 1st and used his stick to Whack AO in the nuts, sending him straight to the ground. The Sabres then proceeded to go on a 6-0 run in the first, its 6-3 now w/ 9 mins left. Ovechkin is getting boo'd whenever he touches the puck but has 1 goal.

I'll post video's....fuck Brierre.

The Dec 2nd hit, the nut shot isnt up yet but its all over Comcast Sportsnet. Maybe ESPN will do that "Flashback" - "Today" thing in Sportscenter.

Posted by: goandykid

If you watch that video closely, right after the hit but before the penalty's even called, he tosses his head back in frustration b/c he knows it was a bad penalty. They zoom in and show it.

Posted by: IainDaniel

That is hockey culture.

Posted by: goandykid

Fuck Brierre. Joe Reekie and Barry Melrose were discussing this. AO is loved across the nation, and admitted that it was a bad mistake and apologized. Brierre gives him a nutshot w/ his stick, doesn't even check him or anything. Stick to the nuts.

Posted by: IainDaniel

I don't agree with the stick shot. Deal with it like a man, but revenge in hockey is second nature. You do something not classy expect retribution.

Posted by: goandykid

Exactly, which is why I was expecting Brierre to go at Alex. Everyone was.

Noone was expecting a stick to the nuts from a grown man.

Posted by: goandykid

I think we're the only hockey fans on IM.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Nah most playmakers are pussies. They usually have a goon to deal with it. Isn't Derek Roy with the Sabres anymore? Or is he too scared to deal with George Laroquoes.

Posted by: goandykid

Roy was there, so was Gastaud (sp?). Neither of those are a Donald Brashear though.

Ovechkin has been known to hit too, one of his major plusses over the bitch Crosby. Did you see Alex's hit on Colin something or other for the (will post team when I remember, I'll post video link)

There is a couple more, but most don't know enough or follow enough kinda like soccer.

I was raised on hockey. Shit I am still playing now. But I am Canukian so that is expected.

Posted by: goandykid

That is true. Same goes for basketball for me, but I used to go to a lot of Caps games as a kid. Still do when I can, tickets are still pretty cheap.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Oh yeah Donald Brashear they all look the same I kid I kid.

Yeah ovechikin with his agressiveness is nice. But I would take Sid the kid anyday. His play making skills are second only to Wayne.

Posted by: IainDaniel

There is no such thing as a cheap hockey ticket in TO. I had preseason tickets. Detroit/ Toronto worst seats in the house before standing room, still cost $50 a peice.

Stats, aggresiveness, leadership all go to Alex Ovechkin. Plus the only argument I need for hsi playmaking is the goal of the century he had last season.

Hahaha, that sucks. Mine are usually ~20

Leadership is debatable. Look at stats check there career. One rediculously lucky goal doesn't make a playmaker

Crosby: 2005-06 PITT 81 39 63 102 110

Posted by: goandykid

Ovechkin had 4 more points last year, including 13 more goals. Aslo, the rookie of the year award. AO also has so much less talent on his team, no Malkin or whoever that 3rd scorer is. And AO can hit.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Malkin just started this year.

And Crosby leads the league in points.

Posted by: goandykid

Ovechkin leads the league in goals.

My Grammy could lead the league in points if she had Crosby's spot, it's hard not to assist w/ all the Pitt scoring talent.

Posted by: IainDaniel

See a playmaker sets up other players Pitts hardley has a ton of scoring talent. Remember these kids that Crosby(a second year player 2 years younger then Ovechikin) is with are all rookies. Staal, Malkin. He isn't even linemates with Malkin.

Ovheckin is a 2nd year player too. I wasn't saying Crosby was bad, I was jsut shoving my bias into the thread.

Posted by: IainDaniel

I know I like ovechkin. I just am amazed with a 19 year olds talent in Sidney.

Hockey is my number 1 sport.

Posted by: goandykid

Well I'm an overly aggressive stereotypical American, and I like local players who can hit.

Posted by: goandykid

It was a hit on Colin White of the Devils. You won't see Crosby doing much of this.

I loved when crosby tried getting big with derian hatcher, and hatcher grabbed him by the back of his head and skated around the rink with it hitting the glass.

Posted by: goandykid

I wanna see that. Youtube?

Crosby from his QMJHL years Pretty sweet goal

Crosby is very good. I don't like him that much, hes got to much of an attitude IMO.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Just a stat for you goandy, showing who really is on the shittier team

When Crosby doesn't play or get a point the Pens are 0-29-1, Now that is pretty crazy.
