Whattya think? I'd have to say a running back in football, maybe linebacker.

Depends- if you mean getting hit hard- linebacker has got to be up there.
Contact sports like football and hockey are killers because they players are so big.

But physically demanding on your body- basketball is tough too- so much wear and tear- always jumping especially the heavier guys. a lot of ankle back and knee problems.

Yes.

Definately MMA, and professional wrestling has to be killer on the body also.

MMA, running back a distant second.

However, as a RB you either block, run, or go out for a pass every single offensive possession, always in contact.

MMA fighters fight 4 times a year.

Yes but MMA also train as well and it is physical to.

All sports train. If we include training someone is going to make the claim for endurance running, or thsoe people who ran that nike marathon across teh desert on ESPN2.

Yes, but as in the nfl its not like they ever do things like nutcrackers. They hardly ever go contact on each other. MMA nearly does all the time. Besides the NFL is only going on 4 months or so out of the year maybe 5.

what position has the lowest professional life expectancy? i know for running back, its almost a rule that after 30 your numbers will go down signifigantly. rarely do running backs last longer than 10 years in the leage.

Some guys only fight the mains, while some fight when ever a bout can be had. There are several org's that never make the non-MMA forum threads. Hell Diego Sanchez already had a belt from one. Training for an MMA athelete is still all about getting hit. You often see guys like Liddel in the seats with black eyes from training while they watch a match. When I trained steady I fought every week as part of it. Put gloves on any of the top football stars and they will not see the third round with the kind of energy that GSP or any of the top MMA fighters have ... won't happen.

Now soccer players ... they run their asses off
