Meh it was a shit card anyway, just hyped with big names

I think the Anderson Silva/Travis Lutter matchup is better than most people think it will be.

Most Americans have this perception of Anderson Silva being invincible. Well, he's not, not even close. He's fought 2 overrated idiots with horrible gameplans. Lutter is a very experienced fighter and will be very competitive. I can't wait for this one!!

I agree. Lutter is a very talented and experienced fighter. Should be a good fight. Did you see Silva in his Mink coat at UFC 66? I didn't recognize him until they pointed him out.

Posted by: Goodfella9783

Yeah it should be really good. I respect both guys a lot. I liked how Anderson came into the octagon after Lutter won the finale and congratulated him and joked with him. Lutter also seems like a down to earth, hard working family man who can hold his own on the ground. It would make for a great story for him to beat the odds.

It's a good matchup and we'll probably get our first look at the middleweight champ on the ground too.

Iain ya lost me on that one. I thought it was a good card if it had big names on it.

Cro Cop is used to fighting guys like Hunt. Hunt has a head of granite. No-one in UFC can compare the level of power/KO imunity of Hunt, so whomever he is against is going to be a can ... but hey it's still gonna be a cool thing to watch that left kick knock out someone else.

Rampage has flash and will pick up and throw down most anyone in the way just cuz he can. He prolly gets a buzz from watching the highlight clip.

Definitely.

Damn that blows fore serra. He could use more training anyway before he gets in there with GSP

I wonder if they'll find a replacement or just scratch him off the card.

If Serra is guaranteed a title shot, they should scrap his fight so he doesn't get beat by some other chump.

I'd imagine replace the fight. I hope its another welterweight fight. I don't think Dana will disappoint us. Maybe Sanchez.....doubt it.

Posted by: goandykid

I thought the card looked good.

Seeing Silva vs Lutter plus Rampage plus Cro Cop in the same night sounds great.

Posted by: AKIRA

Ok I am lost with these names, especially after goandy's post.

Whats the card?

Looks like a hell of a card to me.

Posted by: fufu

Hahaha, Anderson knocked out Chris Leben in 49 seconds...awesome.

If he gets beat he's not worthy of the shot anyway. He should fight whomever is next in line IMHO.

Yeah, but if it was written in to the contract of the show that he gets a title shot no matter what, it is probably better he does it before getting whipped by some creampuff impervious to the foot stomp, which is about 99.9% of anyone, including small children.

So Sanchez? Maybe a Parisyan rematch?

I think Serra is coming in severely underrated here. He gave Parisyan all he could handle and I think he'd give Diego a great fight too. Remember Serra is a natural 155er too, so we might see him as LW soon, especially since he won't beat GSP.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Shit any fighter knows just throw a spinning backfist against Serra and the fight is yours.... he falls for it everytime, even when he is prepared for it

Iain I take it back ... you're right. The next UFC card sux balls. It just needs more fights. Only having Cro Cop and Rampage is not enough. White needs to buck up and fill out a two hour pay-per-view or he is ripping people off.

I wouldn't pay for that ... to fricken skinny.

Fill that card out Dana ... ... WTF?!?!?!?

I dunno I just get pissed with the once a month tribute PPV, let it go a few months and build up a solid card for PPVs instead of a bunch of filler matches with some big names. JMO. But hey whatever.

Sanchez is supposed to fight Matt Hughes, I believe. That should be another quick fight.

Sanchez would work ... good match up for Serra. He'd be through after that though cuz Sanchez would destroy him. If Sanchez can get past him then he's at the top of the contender heap. If he would just get his striking game up to the level he is about to compete at ...

I actually agree with you 100%.

I think that one would go to decision.

Not a chance. Sanchez or Parisyan would bury him.

Posted by: Goodfella9783

I'd say Sanchez by decision. His striking would earn him the decision. And he's too aggressive and powerful for Hughes to pull some submission or GnP.

He's just flat out too slippery for Hughes. Hughes counts on being able to get a hold of you and keeping you there. He couldn't do it to GSP and he sure as hell wouldn't be able to keep Diego down. I would really love to see Parisyan send Hughes across the ring, on his head, with a judo throw.

Posted by: Goodfella9783

You really dislike Hughes, huh?

Not really, I just think his time has come that's all. The young guns are faster, smarter, and more skilled than he ever was. He had a nice run and now it's over. I just wish they had better opposition for him all those years he held the title, then there would be no question as to how overrated he truly is/was. I just hope Sanchez/Hughes happens soon.

Posted by: Goodfella9783

Yeah it's probably the best division in MMA. A lot of guys with big futures. Parysian and Diaz have especially grown on me over the past couple years. Then you got GSP, Sanchez, Bj Penn, Koscheck, Fitch, ect. Crazy.

Yeah I would love to see so many match-ups. What do you think about a Koscheck/Hughes match-up? Would be interesting. Both really strong guys and great wrestlers.

I can't stand Koscheck so I'd be pulling for Hughes. Koscheck literally tries to take his opponents down the whole fight and when he takes them down lays on them until the ref stands it up. He repeats this the entire fight. That's how he scores his points. So friggin boring.

Yes I know, I agree but with that said how do you think he would fare with Hughes? I doubt he would be able to hold Hughes down. I think Koscheck is extremely talented in wrestling. I would like to see someone push him around and make him work. Who is that guy that beat him? Not McDonal or w/e his name is. Or is it.

Drew Fickett, after Kos beat him up for 14 minutes.

Hughes would destroy Koscheck simply because even if Koscheck was lying on him he could submit him in a hearbeat. And he would knock Koscheck out in a hurry standing up. No contest IMO.

I think Serra should fight Sanchez and just make it a contender match - Sanchez should have a title shot by now anyway. I'd love to see Sanchez vs. Hughes though because they have very similar styles, Sanchez is just younger, faster and hungrier.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Leben/Koscheck grudge match considering both of them have two more years experience under their belts.

Serra/Koscheck. I could pick welterweight matchups all day.

You nailed it on the head with this one, but Leben is starting to be exposed for the phony that he is. Would be exciting though considering how much they dislike each other. Kos wins easily.

Koscheck would probably do what he did when they fought the first time and every other time he has fought. Dana needs to though him another 10g's for a KO.

It's about as exciting to watch Kos fight as it is to watch old people fuck. He's more of a snooser than watching golf. He sould be in K-1 ... they'd make a man outta him.

Posted by: AKIRA

I havent seen this Kos...or maybe I have, in any case, if that really is his style that Ill be routing for Hughes too if they fought. Laying around for long periods of time remind me of the all time disliked fighter, Royce Gracie.

As far as Serra getting a fight or not, I dont know. It would be nice to see him fight, but it was a title shot, if he fought someone and lossed, that would seem embarrassing for GSP to fight someone who is already underrated enough.

Posted by: ReproMan

Koscheck is extremely explosive and his standup and submissions get better all the time, but as soon as he gets in a little trouble it's down to the mat he goes. His wrestling is sick though, people call it boring but it takes alot of strength and skill to keep someone pinned on their back for 15 minutes.

You're right, Royce Gracie is better known for his dominant stand up.

I believe he is referring to Royce's sick BJJ skills.

What sick BJJ skills? He only beat guys that had never even heard of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

At least when Gracie was lying on someone he was always looking for a submission - barely moving, but looking for a lock or arm or ankle to put into a hold. Koscheck doesn't even know how to do that which is why he'll never be a top contender. Boring, yes - because we're used now to standup knockouts like Liddell and Silva. Different fighting styles.

Plus Gracie mostly fought without weight classes. You try to keep a 300 pound guy on the ground when you only weigh 160. He was good.

The biggest guy he fought back in the day was Kimo and the only way he kept him on the ground was by pulling his hair. He weighed in at 176 when they fought.

After watching Kos last night, Id have to say he is boring, but not as bad as Gracie. I see where BoneCrusher is coming from, but to compare his action to Gracie's is nuts.

Kos =
Gracie =

At least Kos attempts the stand-up game. Gracie didn't even throw punches, and when he did they were open hand shots..

I watched a fight on YouTube of him fighting Goulet and at the end of the fight, even after being tired, he was throwing strong punches.

Anyone notice that YouTube will let some fights slide and not others? Theyll usually let "fight night" fights stay on (though not all the time), but never PPVs.

However, when looking for Kos and Sanchez fights last night, Liddell vs. Tito II was on there.

Posted by: ponyboy

Probably because Fight Nights are on Free TV and PPV's aren't. Some fights get put up and then never get found though.
