this kinda seems like a wierd question but is it possible to not gain muscle? ive allways been skinny but i weight train and try to eat as much as possible but dont gain much muscle. Im sure it has to do with me being young and skinny but i didnt know if yall knew of something?

Muscle gain depends alot on your diet. If you want size, work on your diet. The training is the easy part in my opinion.

alright thats the one thing i havent focused on as much. I try to eat alot but not alot of good stuff necissarily. so protein vitamins all that good stuff, not so much candy and crap.

I had the same problem for ages. Once I got diet sorted, the gains followed. You'll be suprised how quickly you can turn it around. Good luck.

You'll also find it much easier to change your diet if you write it all down every day, including macronutrients and calories. It makes it very easy to evaluate in this format.

suppliments? would that be necissary or should i just change my diet

Personally, I stay away from all supplements. This is partially because of my age, partically because I'm not competing, partially because I haven't done much research about them, and partially because I really don't think they're necessary in most cases (and certainly not for anyone new to lifting). However, as I said, I haven't done much research on them. It also depends on what you define as supplements. If you mean steroids, it may become useful after twenty years of training, but is probably not needed. If you mean creatine, most people consider it safe, but again I wouldn't take it without more research on my own part.

no not steroids.just protein and creatine

eat lots of healthy food. set up a good diet.

what does your training look like?

Could try a weight gainer shake as a supplement

One of my ectomorph friends has been having some pretty good success using those

If you can get your diet in order there's no need for shakes / supplements etc when you are an early stage trainer. If you find it hard to maintain a good diet with "real" food, that's where supplements can assist. I think most people would agree it's better to eat 4-6 meals a day every 3-4 hours or so. I use shakes etc to assist me with this when life gets too busy.

Post what you do in the gym. Post what you eat. We'll take it from there.

To answer your question, my opinion is yes (and no). YES you may not gain muscle if you train bad and eat bad. Good training & good eating = definite gain without question.

well normally i try to stay on free weights. ive heard those help alot more. but ive also heard to not be as consistant with workouts because your muscles get used to it. i try to do more reps than weight. but once again idont have an exact schedule down because i dont really know how to make one? but as far as yall know theres no condition or something that you cant gain muscle? even if your skinny

read the stickies on how to make a training program!!

So far these are the facts as I see them:

a) you are saying you can't gain weight or put on size.

b) you have no training program that you follow and judging by the fact that you said you try and do more reps than weight, you probably need to read the stickies because you need to understand the importance of tension.

c) you don't have a set diet and don't always make the best food choices.

So basically, letters B and C are holding you back from A. If you look at those facts, you really should see you have nothing to be upset about as far as not achieving your goals. You have done very little (thus far) to try and make your goals a reality. Get to work!! Times a wastin'!
