hey i have a question. is it possible to do too much cardio and lose muscle? i mean i've heard of over training a muscle slowing the growing process of it but would too much cardio do anything to it? and probably the noobest part of my question- what is lean muscle and why is it different from other types of muscle? i hope someone can answer my two questions. thanks.

Yes it is possible to do too much cardio and lose muscle. It depends what muscle fiber type you are. I tend to be fast twitch and I lose a large amount of muscle from long distance running. My wife on the otherhand is a slow twitch endurance type and she bulks up with long distance running. Anyone who is overtraining and not eating well will lose muscle. Your body will burn it for calories just like it burns fat or it will rob the protein to make enzymes for bodily functions. When most people refer to lean muscle they mean muscle with little fat over the top of it. It is possible to have fat deposits in muscle however it is usually in a case where the person is very out of shape.
