Rows- overhand grip

Quick question, how come bent over barbell rows with a pronated grip are easier/more comfortable if I don't wrap my thumb around the bar?

Because you don't grip nearly as tight as you would normally with them wrapped around the bar. Therefore, your forearms/Biceps have less tension and you can concentrate more on the back contracting.
