I found this on another forum.

2 Cups Oatmeal
4 scoops of whey (protein powder--any will do-vanilla kind)
1/2 cup peanut butter
about 5 tbsp of water.

Mix in a bowl--dough should be stiff.

Forms 6 bars on wax paper--freeze them for 40 minutes and then they are ready to go!! No baking!!

Not sure if the macros are correct, I've not made them yet.
Info:
195 cals
8.3g fat
16g carbs
18.8g protein

Not yet, I plan to this weekend. I'm going to use the BSN Fresh Cinnamon Roll protein..YUMMY all by itself. Everyone that has tried them on the other board raves about them though.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Sooooo..... How did they turn out?

Posted by: Uthinkso

Survey says.....I'm awaiting results on these.

Posted by: Hammerlynn

Survey says...I suck and did not get to make them this past weekend. I will throw some together tonight

Posted by: IainDaniel

Let me guess I am going to have to be the ginea pig and try these out

Posted by: Hammerlynn

The last two weeks have completely sucked I really WANT to make them....will try tonight while making dinner. If it makes you feel better, lots of things have not gotten done

Posted by: Uthinkso

I will jump on it this weekend. I want to try these.

Posted by: Jodi

Yeah, someone let me know how these turn out. Dante was trying to make some last night for work. I'm pretty sure he ended up with really sweet tasting chunky oatmeal

Thats no damn good, I'm going to do it Sunday.

Details to follow.

Posted by: Hammerlynn

I'm heading down to make these right now Yes, really...didn't it feel colder outside? Update in about an hour when they are frozen!

Edit: These get my stamp of approval even before frozen! The taste reminds me of a no bake oatmeal cookie I mixed the oats and protein powder (I used BSN Dessert Protein-Whipped Vanilla flavor) then softened the PB for just a few second before mixing. I added 7 tablespoons total though for water. Pressed them into an 8x8 pan and they are chillin' now

Posted by: Hammerlynn

FYI...the finished product is yummy too

Posted by: Gordo

They're good (I 've made those before and variations on that theme), though, depending on the protein scoop you may want to take it up to 8 scoops.

If you're not lactose intolerant, replace the water with skim milk, It's just better, taste wise.

Posted by: Uthinkso

I just got them done they are good indeed.

Posted by: Hammerlynn

My only complaint as I continue to eat them is that they are very crumbly..lol My cat's loving it though

Posted by: IainDaniel

These are pretty good. Just made some. I am not sure how much liquid I used I just kept adding a little bit at a time, till I had a doughy like consistency.

Definitely will make some more.

Me too! My BF tried one too and is equally hooked! Are yours crumbly? I wonder if that could be remedied by adding more water than I did. Hmmm. I also used natty PB for them so maybe that makes a difference in texture too.

Posted by: IainDaniel

Nope not crumbly. I used natty PB.

If I followed the directions with 5 tbls I would have still had the powder. So I just slowly added till it was a big ball of Oats, PB, and Whey.

I used chocolate ON whey.

Posted by: ava

Try this recipe with Rocky Road flavored ON Whey and also add in 1/2 cup of chopped pecans. It's my favorite variant so far and my kids love them.

Posted by: MeatZatk

made them last night with vanilla protein, DELICIOUS!!!!! I've got to make more because my wife wants to take them to work.

Posted by: shiek49

i made these this weekend. they taste really good, but the ones i made were kind of sticky/tacky. did anyone else have the same issue?

I actually put six scoops of powder and a little more milk.

Posted by: shiek49

.

Posted by: TopProducer

I made these last night. How do you dry them out so they are hard like a protein bar? Did I use to much water? After freezing them for 40 minutes they still stay gooey.

Posted by: MeatZatk

you probably used too much water. make sure it's tbsp, not ounces. I did that one time and they stayed gooey.

Posted by: shiek49

yeah, mine were gooey as hell too. I did use more milk than it called for, but it just seemed too dry with only 5 tbsp. i'll just have to expierment with it. they are quite tasty.

Posted by: IainDaniel

I just added a bit of milk or water and mixed alot, kept repeating till the powder was dissolved.

Posted by: Av8tor

These were excellent. I definitely used more water. After being in the freezer for about 10 minutes, they were the perfect consistency.

Posted by: Av8tor

I modified slightly and used 5 scoops of protein powder and came up with the following (Using Smuckers Nat. chunky PB):

6 servings:

340 Cals
14 grams fat
24 grams carbs
28 grams protein
4 grams fibre

anyone tried any recipes with less PB or a lower fat substitute? i wouldnt mind sacrificing some of the flavor or consistancy for getting it a little lower in fat since it would be nice to have a couple of these a day for a snack.

The first post contained under 20% fat.

Posted by: thorough

^yeah ive been educated on the importance of getting enough fat since then.

ive made these and they are great. i had to add more water when i mixed them up in the bowl but the preperations are spot on!i might try mixing the whey and pb together to evenly distribute stuff a bit more next time since the first batch seemed to have more chunks of pb. the taste is good. more peanut buttery than sweet. might need a little splenda sprinked on top if your looking to sweeten it up a bit.

Posted by: thorough

a friend wants to me to make these for him so i figured out the unit cost per batch and bar. i could probally use some double checking though.

oatmeal $2 a box. 15 cups per container 2 cups per batch .13 cent a cup =$.26 cents a batch
whey $13 per container.30 scoops per container 4 per batch. $.43 cents a scoop= $1.73 a batch
pb $3 a jar.14 servings per container(8 tbsp per batch =about $.85 a batch

total cost $2.84 cents a batch. .47 a bar. cheep as a mofo...

macros to come soon. so far mine seem different than the ones on the first page.

I use a 5-grain hot cereal mix along with the oats. Add a little honey and a few chocholate chips as well. I throw some flour in there as well to give in more structure. I've used soy flour in the past because it has so much more protein but I've also heard soy isn't that great for men. Anyone else know about this?

Posted by: thorough

^ive heard something about soy producing excessive estrogen in men or something. id have to google for a while.
i have been making variations of bars lately with nuts sprinkled on top and cinnamon on top and they are tasty.

i even made a instant version where you mix pb,oats, splenda, whey, and water in a bowl and stir it around for a minute. its like chocolate peanut butter heaven.

Posted by: thenaven

Did you cook the oatmeal first?

Posted by: IainDaniel

nope

Posted by: namchris94

does this recipe look healthy?

1 cup of peanut butter
3 cups oats
¼ cup of orange juice
¼ cup of apple sauce
2 ½ scoops of whey powder (I use it, but it’s optional)
1tsp of vanilla/ vanilla extract
2 beated egg whites
1 cup Milk powder
¼ cup Raisins
1 banana
2 table spoons to ¼ cup of honey, depending on how sweet you want it

Posted by: muscleflex

^^ does the orange juice make it taste better?
can orange juice be used in place of water or milk?

hello by the way! :-)
i'm currently preparing my diet /meal plan for my body for life program (and myoplex meal replace bars will get too expensive) so i've started looking at how to make my own.

Posted by: muscleflex

oh, by the way - if i decide to take them to work with me, wont they become gooey again after being away from the freezer?

Posted by: namchris94

the orange juice is just a good bonding agent
no, you have to cook it for about 15 minutes @ 300 degrees or until sides are crisp

Posted by: muscleflex

lol - now you tell me! :-)
i made this yesterday altho i used:
1cup oats
about 4 scoops whey protein (pro-lab Nlarge 2)
some nuts/ fruits
spoon of peanut butter (organic)
added water and mixed.

it's turned gooey on me and i'm trying to eat it now but it's still gooey away from the freezer.
i'm gonna make some more tonight and i'll put it in the oven to harden it.

thanks
