How bad is going 4.5 hours between meals?

Holy crap, got caught up tonight at a social gathering and lost track of time, etc etc...I had a shake 1 scoop ON casien, 1 scoop ON whey, and 2 tbsp natural pb at around 9:45ish, and just got home maybe 15 minutes ago. As soon as I got home I downed a big bowl of cottage cheese and almonds, and even threw in a 1 oz strip of chicken lol

But at like 1:30am my head was pounding, my mood changed from happy to evil, and I just felt weird...and even after i just ate my head is still pounding

It's insane how a little time makes a huge difference, i feel like crap right now

Anyways how i feel is one thing, but after 4.5 hours do you start to break down muscle mass? Or is it just negative on how you feel...I mean im pretty strict with the eat every 2-3 hour rule, and 1.5 hour extra and I was getting light headed...

How bad is this for your muscles? This has happened a few times the past couple weeks, but just wondering how this effects you realistically...When does muscle breakdown occur? My stomach wasn't even really growling that bad, more so my body was just feeling bad.

again you worry too much.

Nothing will be lost.

Just don't make a regular habit of it.

Jeez man, you worry way too much! This kind of thing is going to make no difference at all providing you don't do it regularly.

In fact I do what you do routinely and it has no negative effect on me. As the day goes on, the time between my meals gets a little bit longer because my metabolism noticeably slows down...to the point where I can feel it.

2 hours after meal 1, I'm really hungry again. But between 5 and 6, I usually go about 4 hours because I my metabolism has slowed and I have a lot of fibrous greens in meal 5 which help keep me full.

To each his own though you know? Every body is different, it's all about what works best for you. I don't think what you did is physiologically damaging or anything like that, or harmful to your overall goals, but if it m ade you feel like that it sounds like you're better off sticking to the 3 hour thing.

Sorrry guys haha...I'm just taking this very serious...Want to make it to the pros

Hey good for you though IMO the only thing that asking a lot of questions (and "nitpicking" so to speak) shows is a desire to be the best. Clearly you're taking this very seriously and you're willing to do whatever it takes.

To most of us who aren't necessarily competitive bodybuilders but simply want to adopt healthy lifestyles and get good physiques, we might not consider things like this a big deal. But I bet Jay Cutler and co. stress things like this all the time you know? That's what it takes to be the champ

Exactly. Every time I nitpick and stress little things, everyone says blah blah relax relax. But in the end if I didn't stress the small things, I would just be like anyone else who works out and eats right. I want to have that "edge" and I currently do. I look better then anyone that I see at the gym, and I don't think it's just a coincidence. I think being anal, and stressing the small things is the only way to get that competitive edge.

Sure I'm not a pro right now, but if I would like to eventually become one, don't I have to think like a pro? I mean does Jay Cutler go 5 hours between a meal? I know everything in moderation, but I feel its all what you make of it. Sure I can just throw a bunch of oatmeal in a bowl and eat it with a bunch of eggs. But if I want that edge I need to use a measuring cup, weight out the eggs, and so on.

Exactly. See personally, I'm an athlete...not a bodybuilder. My reason for adapting to this lifestyle was for performance purposes. I took the same attitude you have to my athletic training. So while I don't specifically cater my diet for fat burn/muscle building perfection, I was meticulous about not missing reps...whether it was in the gym, the last leg of a sprint, my last 100 jumpshots, etc. Now, I'm the same way with my running (sadly basketball is over) I'm real anal about getting my miles in and making sure my rest days are just that...rest days. I have to restrict myself (sadly though I pushed too hard already and hurt my knee so I'm going to take a long hiatus from it) It's the kind of attitude you need to have.
