How often would you or do you train twice in a day?

I normally do not, but I have before. On my days off, I may have time for it (boredom) and know that I may not have time to do that 2nd workout in the next few days.

If its used sparringly (lets say once a week for starters), can it be beneficial without overtraining effects?

I've never done twice a day, but I have done 2 fullbody workouts 2 days in a row sometimes to fit my schedule. 2 times a day isn't really helpful overall I think, maybe once for a change. Your body won't have time to recover at all.

I tried it for a few weeks and made no gains plus I started to fill tired all day. I don't recommend it, but maybe you will react better to it than I did.

I know of fellow competitors of mine that train lightly in the morning(Active recovery) and heavy, well whatever there focused on at night.Morning workouts are intended to be able to increase blood flow and add more volume to there regimens.Never tried it myself but sounds very interesting and effective.

I'm still a newb, but it would seem to me that if you were on a split and did say back in the morn and bis in the evening. That would be alright, but the questions begs to be asked. WHY?

I have tried it before. Did upper in the morning and lower in the evening. When coming back from an injury I can see a benefit of that type of training or a full time athlete but for the average person I think it just wastes time.

as long as your PWO nutrition is on par and you take into account for every extra burned calorie and sub it in for some good foods..not the same body part though!!

I find an extra night workout can relieve some stress and allow me to eat a little cheat meal.

I train twice a day 2x a week. After legs in the morning Ill come back do unilateral shoulder presses on stability ball, neck work, reverse fly's, scapular exercises and core. On back day Ill come back and do biceps and core. I feel fine when I come back maybe it's b/c my first workout is at 6am and I come back after school around 9.

Ideally I'd do cardio in the morning and lift in the evening. If I didn't work, that would be the plan.

About 6 times in my whole life, I have done 2 heavy workouts in one day.

For instance, legs in the morning and upper at night. I do it cuz of a potential boring day off and the prediction that the next few days, I wont make it to the gym.

I figure a habit of this would be taxing on the CNS, but every once in a while (once a month)? I wonder if that could cause a "shocking" effect..

When I was younger I would lift in the morning and do martial arts at night. I never understood why I plateaued .
