I'm a 5'2", 115-120 lb female who's looking to get back into working out. I worked out about 3 times a week last year, but I slacked off, and I want to start again. My goal is to lose a little bit of fat and gain muscle. For cardio I'm getting into swimming. I hate all other kinds of cardio, so swimming is what I'm going to be sticking with. I only have a few months before summer so I was hoping to get a somewhat intense workout. Maybe some compound exercises. I really love lifting, so sticking to a routine shouldn't be a problem. I was hoping to get to the gym about 4 times a week. But that is flexible. I was hoping someone could suggest a good workout that will get me in nice shape for summer, without overworking certain muscles. (Like I don't want to overwork my shoulders since I'm swimming, and get bulky shoulder muscles.)

Thanks!

Thanks!

If you work on swimming technique employing a progressive overload method whle you work your shoulders, it wouldn't matter if they became "bulky" - the combination would continuously make you a faster swimmer.

thinking push/pull/legs? would you do cardio on off days or are you limited to doing it right after your work outs?

upper/lower 2x's a week or push/legs/pull. Focus on your diet..
