Anyone try this stuff? I know dvlmn666 wasn't too impressed with it. (I think you said you tried it but didn't notice any difference after you stopped using it)

Weird 'cause people are going crazy over this stuff on one of the "other boards". Have been for ages. Seems to be a big Met-Rx fan base over there.

Anyway - just wondering. Never tried it myself

What is it? MRP?

Posted by: nikegurl

i'll swipe some info and post here. i have NO idea if it's any good. just cutting and pasting folks....

"Met- RX is formulated to counteract the buildup of lactic acid and ammonia levels in the muscle, more Lactic acid & Ammonia the less contractile ability and performance of the muscle. Phosphate levels are lost from the muscle cells during exercise also so this is where O2FX comes into play and works against the Lactic acid and Ammonia buildup as well as supports the Phosphorous levels . And energy that comes from the herbal constituants that support deep tissue oxygenation - and the supportive macro mineral compound that encourages a higher "hydrogen" delivery concept for oxygen adaptation. In the end result you have increased endurance , performance , and recovery of the muscle."

Can someone translate for me? LOL!!

they claim it helps you do more in the gym. it's not a stimulant/eca type product though.

Sounds almost like creatine. Also sounds similiar to Cytomax, an endurance drink that is also supposed to buffer lactic acid buildup.

The thing I find odd.....there are lots of people raving about this on the other board. (It's a "sticky"). But that's the only place I'm hearing about it. Makes me wonder if they have a tie to Met-RX or something. I know that sounds so cynical but why would people on 1 board be ALL over a supplement that the rest of the "bodybuilding/fitness world" isn't paying that much attention to.

Along with what nikegirl and Krypto stated it would basically allow ATP stores to be replenished quicker. Which is one of the first steps towards recovery, ATP is also the biological energy source for all anabolic and catabolic functions in the body. With out sufficient ATP you cannot train effectively and you surely will not grow.

does it sound like it's worthwhile LAM?

Posted by: LAM

that would depend. If I was a person who found that creatine did not work for them in terms of it not helping to get those extra reps out and not for the "volumizing" effect. Creatine also plays a major role in the production and storage of ATP, then I would try something like O2FX or maybe even just supplement with D-Ribose.

Hey LAM, what will the D-ribose do?

Posted by: LAM

D-Ribose D-Ribose is a naturally occurring pentose, or five-carbon sugar molecule. D-Ribose is used to create Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the bilogical energy source for all anabolic and catabolic functions in the body.

During intense exercise or oxidative stress, ATP is consumed by the body. A phosphate is given up to provide energy producing ADP or Adenosine Diphosphate. There is about 90 gms of ATP in the body which is good for about 10 seconds of maximum energy. ADP is rapidly recycled back to ATP as a phosphate is added on. This happens only if oxygen is available. Without it Creatine phosphate donates a phosphate group to keep the energy factory humming. Unfortunately, during intense exercise there is only enough Creatine phosphate for a few seconds worth of maximum energy. When that fails the body falls back on the third option, called the myokinase reaction. Two ADP's combine to form an ATP and an AMP (Adenosine Monophosphate.) Unfortunately, AMP builds up in the cell and gums up the works. The body pushes AMP out of the cell and so ATP cannot be recycled and is ultimately lost. Worse, it takes a long time to rebuild the ATP back to useable levels. After intense exercise, levels of ATP may be reduced by from 20 to 28 percent (even more for large body parts like back and legs a good reason to train them several days apart and never on consecutive days).

Ultimately along with creatine supplementation D-Ribose can help skeletal muscle recovery faster from resistance training.
