I saw that Butter and real Mayo were on the "good fats" list. However, I was reading through older posts and saw someone get slammed for eating butter and Mayo in their meals. It was suggested that they should eat Light Miracle Whip or Light Mayo to reduce the cals and fats. As someone with a high level of body fat and just beginning to eat healthy, should I use real Mayo or Light? I've always used Fat Free & Light Mayo to reduce calories. However, I want to be clear on what is the best. Or should I not be using Mayo at all? I love to mix in mayo for tuna and chicken salad. Thanks in advance for your input!

I believe this is because mayo consists largely of egg whites / soybean oil?

I use light mayo for my fat with tuna. There are better fat choices but I like it.

I use safflower mayo in my tuna. Not the light crap either. I'm usually 10% body fat or less, so it's not going to hurt that much.

Mayo = Ok, not great but not bad from what ive read.

Safflower mayo for the win...just keep in mind a tablespoon is roughly 100 calories, gotta watch out.

1 spoonful for 1 can of tuna for me. That's it. Well, that and an egg white and a spoonful of sugar free relish.

Unless it's high oleic safflower oil (check the mono & poly fat content), I'd be very wary of eating standard safflower oil as it's got shed-loads of omega-6 and virtually zero omega-3. See Fresh Hemp Foods Limited | Feburary 01/01

FAT FREE MAYO!! That's what I say. There's no sense in packing in an exorbitant amount of calories in one tiny tablespoon. Fat free mayo enables you to use enough mayo to make a decent sandwich (or salad), it tastes just great (add seasoning if you wish) and there's only 10 calories a tablespoon. I never use anything else. If you want fat add some nuts, eat an egg, or have extra steak!
