Would wheaties be a healthy alternative to eating Oats? Wheates has low sugar, calories are decent, and no sat. fat (total fat is less than 1%). I'm sorry but mixing dry oats and skim milk just wont work for me (doesn't taste like anything which makes me sick).

Also, im in and out of school and am in need of a good protein bar, something on the go. Any suggestions.

MY GOAL: to loose body fat (for all ya'll that haven't heard me 'bickering' on previous posts.

Probably not... but don't quote me.

Don't you like anything that's good for you?

FitDay.com - Diet and Fitness journal for zonaguy03

I said not to quote me, and you did. J/K.

I can't say much except that don't look like much food, plus the order you put your foods in is also going to make a difference.

That's possible. But only expect to go so far unless your diet kicks ass.

Like egg beaters? I know a lot of guys who eat them and they seem fine. I don't like them. As for the oats, try dumping a cup of yogurt over some raw oats and mix it up. You might like it. It don't even taste like oats. When I'm in a mad rush that's what I do.

Wonderful idea, thanks. I bought a huge thing of yogurt from Sam's club (not sure if you know what that is) but the brand is yoplait- has quite a bit of sugar...will that kill my if i dump that over oats for breakfast? And also, you're saying to keep the oats dry (in original form when the yogurt is dumped on top)?

Yeah, I just keep the oats dry and dump some vanilla yogurt (or whatever flavor you like) over the dry oats, mix and eat. I personally like Cascade Fresh yogurt as of now. I used to get blue bunny lite 85, but don't much anymore.

As for a protein bar, if you can find greens and whey bars they rule, but they are pricey...

nothing's easy these days huh...i need some sleep, early class tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

Could always try a little salt or a decent amount of cinnamon. I make my oats with just enough water to make them not dry, then mix a bunch of cinnamon into it.

I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. Oats are a healthy alternative to Wheaties.

But the box has drawings of athletes on it. So it must be healthy.

Why dry oats? I just mix in some water and microwave 1 minute. Then I pump in 1 or 2 ounces of egg whites and some cinnamon for taste. Also, I see Cheerios now has a Multi-grain that I use with some non fat milk for variety. As far as yogort get the Plain or Vanilla only.. the other stuff is loaded with sugars and corn syrup

How exactly does one go about "pumping" 1 or 2 ounces of egg whites into an oatmeal mix?

I Just buy the biggest tub I can at my local supermarket... I go for "Plain" and then use blueberries or some fruit for flavor... I also always pump some egg whites into it each serving I make... actually, I do that with just about everything I eat or drink ;-)

Play around with the ammount of skimmed milk you use, when I am in a real rush I pour a protein shake (one scoop on whey and semi skimmed milk) over my oats and eat it with a spoon, never tried yoghurt over oats, but I have over cornflakes years ago.

As for protein bars, try 'tri-o-plex', I think they are decent enough but alas they are made out of oats

i hate oats screw that. I just stay from carbs

Same here, except I get the Nonfat plain. If they do not have the big tubs, then I just get the organic stuff.
