Here's the deal guys. I used to work out when i was like 15-16, and I just started up again a few weeks ago, I am now 19. I'm 6'0" and 200 lbs. My bench is at ~280, squats around 325, and deadlift in the area of 275. But here's the real question.....

I have never taken any sort of supplement, and my eating habits really suck. I work out 4 days a week (started about 2 weeks ago) and this time I'm serious about getting bigger and stronger. What are the best benefits I will notice from taking whey protein, creatine, and glutamine? I have noticed that my recovery times are very long, almost a full week, will those supps help a lot? I assume the glut will help most.

Also, will I notice a large difference in strength after, oh let's say, a month? I basically want to know if it's worth plopping down all this money for supplements, or if I should just go au natural. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Before anyone can say this proper nutrition is the key to everything but, I would say take a protein powder before you go take anything else and if you arent taking a multi start. I take One or two scoops of protein with a powder gatorade mix right after training getting your muscles food which reduces recovery.

Yes, you need to get your eating down before you worry about supps too much. Taking something after a workout would be the best place to start though. Go with protein powder, creatine, and glutamine in one drink. These are all good supps.

I wouldn't say large gain. After a month you will notice some strength. As a newbie you might gain quickly then it'll slow down over time.

Eat RIGHT. I've read a lot of stuff. And each time they have said. It doesn't matter what you can lift. It matters what you eat. So eat right first. Besides that all the pills won't really help untill you're doing everything right.

Ok, so what are the most important aspects of proper eating? Is there maybe a sticky or website I can check out? Thanks

I can attest to needing proper diet. I started working out 15 years ago, and not having enough protein etc I just kept hitting plateus and that is pretty discouraging.

I've been working out again for awhile now (again), and have not been putting on size until getting the routine down (and pushing myself), as well as eating better.

Generally speaking I have been going by the rule 1 gram of protein per pound, some say .8 as a minimum and some say more (3g per kilogram, or etc). You'll find that would be pretty darn tough to get out of regular food, and in 3 sittings. Spreading it to 4-6 meals will keep the metabolism rolling along faster (instead of getting full and fat), as well as improve absorbtion. There is more too it than this, watching which types of carbs etc.

At the top of this page (link) you'll find on the left some items of interest

Tons of info out there, I know for me I have to just take it a bit at a time, cold turkey/die hard and I often burn out after awhile, so take it as you can stand it as far as drastic changes to your lifestyle, if that works best for you as well.
