hey everyone
im skinny and its very hard for me to gain weight. im trying to gain a few more lbs of muscle. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to add a few bowls of cereal (shredded wheat, special K, or kashi go lean crunch) to my diet to help with my weight gain. I love cereal, and for the past 3 weeks I've been having several bowls a day and have gained about 2 lbs..

any thoughts?

Several bowls a day might be a little excessive with cereal. To gain weight you just have to increase calories. Personally I think you would be better off adding something like almonds which are high in good fats and low in carbs (and really high in calories) Those types of calories will help you gain weight while minimizing fat gain.

Or porridge - I find porridge packs more punch than cereal

Yah cereal isnt that peachy. I've noticed alot of cereals have high sugar/sodium content, wich will mae you gain mre water then anything.

I agree with Neil

ice cream is my fav weight gainer

low fat icecream mixed with eggwhites makes for a great nutritous weight gainer Milkshake! I drink it all the time. As far as cereals go... just make sure they are sugarless and whole grain if possible and if it works for you (you gain weight lbm without adding bodyfat) then go for it. I also like oatmeal mixed with a 12 grain whole grain meal... I just soak it in water, nuke for 1 minute, and then use bannanas, strawberries, blueberries, etc for sweetness and falvor. Finally, try to eat a couple of steaks a week and when you train lift heavy, and only 2x a week alternating bodyparts... For a hardgainer you want to tear down in the gym and then through diet and rest you need to repair before you do it again... so like Monday do upperbody push exercises... then on Thursday do legs... then next Monday do upper body Pull exercises... then on Thursday do upperbody Push exercises and then just keep on rotating workouts like that so the body is split into 3 parts and you only train each part every 10 days... for this to work you got lift really hard.... you will grow.
