i started wrestling at the end of last season and i cant wait till next season. i baught a few books on folk style and grecorooman. im assuming that it does nt contain all the mooves. do you agree? or how many moves are there thousands?
Posted by: Rubes
there are alot of moves just pick a few and be amazing at them its better to have 6 that nobody can stop than having 30 that you can only get half of the time.

do you wrestle? if so do you think that if i start in my Junior year it is to late? and do you think if me and my freinds pratice wresting alll the time using a book we can get better to prepare me for wrestling season. i am doing wrestling for MMA.

yes i do wrestle its always a good idea to practice. and no your junior year is not to late we have kids at my school who have started there senior year and have done well. and its also a good idea to look into a wrestling camp before next season the camps always have helped the kids on my schools team. what weight class do you wrestle?
Posted by: danny81
i am 6 ft and around 158 with like 14% BF i can prob get down to 8% and be like 150 148 by the summer. but then i will probably slowy gain weight while staying at a low BF so i will prob be like 160. with 8-10 BF%. i will definetly look into a folkstyle wrestling camp. i am also looing into taking G-R classes at the local YMCA.

BTW me and my freinds are reading Greco-roman wrestling by William A. Martell and the throws and takedowns of Greco-Roman Wrestling by Geoff thompson.

i dont know much about greco i stick to folkstyle and freestyle for the most part. you wrestle right around my weight class im going to drop to 160 or 152for next season only your about 4 in taller then me im about 5'8 175 right now plan to start cutting soon because of football and such.

i just foud a video of my shoulder gettin dislocated in wrestling i got ass kicked by a the 2nd best wrestler in my confrence fun times
Posted by: danny81
well wrestling boxing and weight lifting are all for my dreams of being in the MMA. BTw i am going to join the YMCA and learn a little folk, freestyle, and G-R over the usmmer then i will join my wrestling team in the fall. what do you think? btw i bulked up to 165 from my original weight of 150. now i am cutting down ia m likde 158.
Posted by: Rubes
sounds like your going to do fine if you keep up with the stuff you say your going to do. im going to a team camp that my coach wants everyone on the team to go to. you should be able to make 150 easy if you keep on working hard on cutting the weight you dont have far to go unlike me

Either get explosive or get highly conditioned. I wasn't explosive when I wrestled, I was about middle of the pack, but towards the end of the first period I would have my opponents so tired that the second and 3rd were mine. I always thought I had no chance of being explosive, that I wasn't built for it, but I have proven myself wrong by training properly. I would also learn to work legs, especially if you intend on doing MMA. Up in VT and most of New England, few wrestlers worked legs and it was a huge advantage to have a coach that drilled it often. I was a defensive wrestler, and would recommend working escapes and reversals as much as you practice the actual move.

You need to learn the figure four leg lock and the chicken wing.

Nah the Camel Clutch is where it is at.

Or the DDT. NO ONE recovers from the DDT.
