Need your help !!

I currently do standling calve raises and seated calf raises....
However, my calves are still very small - has anyone got any suggestions as to what i could do to improve my calve size i.e. any alternative exercises etc ?????

I love standing calf raises, are you going 'all the way down', with deliberate reps not bouncing etc?

What kind of rep range? I stick to 15-25 reps for calves...

It would depend on how much weight you are lifting, I know for myself I have to lift a lot of weight to get my calves to grow.

I generally stick to 3 sets of 10-15 reps !!

For 10 reps on standing calf raises i use ~110kg/240lbs !!!

I know this isnt alot......i was one of those upper body only trainers until a few months ago !!

Are you burning your calves out good enough on each set?

We walk with our calves everyday so endurance is high. You need to make sure that you're kicking the sh!t out of them when you train.

Use some weight and do 3 sets on leg press plus your other calf execises.

My current leg routine is :-

Squats - 3 x 10
Leg Press / Hack Squats - 3 x 10
Leg Curl - 3 x 10
Standing Calve Raises - 3 x 10

I then occassionaly also use the 'Stairmaster' machine for 10-15 mins to give me a really good pump !

A day or 2 after i can barely walk so i know im hitting the right areas......its just my quads have made really good gains so they look out of proportion to the lower part of my legs !!

Any other advise ??

Using a seated calf rasie do this

Select a weight you can get 8 reps out of, upon hitting 8 just do partial reps as QUICKLY as possible for 30 seconds. The burn will be IMMENSE, if you can do any more partials then just hold the peak and flex & release the Calf as much as you can.

Do about 5 stes of these and you'll be on your way to MAJOR growth

There was a 75 rep routine floating around here awhile ago that a few guy`s were swearing by.

I think dvlmn666 and Mick01 both added some good size with it.

I`ll see if I can find it for you.

No problem......go into Dvlmn666`s journel and ask him more about it if you like.

I personally haven`t tried it yet....still injured

I will give that routine a go tonight so i will let you know how i get on !!

Anybody else got any other suggestions ??

I've tried the seated calf machine, and didn't much like it honestly. I feel better stretch and contraction doing standing excersizes, but thats just what I prefer.
