Liddell vs Rampage

It is this weekend.

I know I am going to possibly be the minority opinion, but I think Rampage could beat him, plus we need an upset.

I know at this point to not rule out anything and that, in fact, anything can happen.

All in all, I am hoping for a good fight. A good brawl between 2 fighters, not just some lucky punch.

Their last fight was entertaining, so if I get that again, regardless of who wins, Ill be a happy camper.

I'm going with Liddell.

He has much more expierience on the UFC stage, Rampage didn't look impressive against eastman.

Mentally, Chuck is much more prepared for this.

GSP, Cro cop, rampage... ALL victims of UFC jitters. All for different reasons, but all of them didn't fight to their potential because they weren't mentally prepared. Chuck is an established champion in the UFC and its an entirely different situation than it was in Pride.

Regardless of who wins, I just want to see a good fight.

I'm taking Rampage.

Rampage doesn't start really fighting until he gets smacked a few good times, and Eastman never hit him at all really.

Rampage is stronger, a better technical puncher, and has perhaps the best chin in all of MMA (just check out either of the beatings Wanderlei gave him.)

Chuck hit Rampage with a few good shots in their first fight and Rampage walked right through them.

Sucks too, because I'm actually starting to like Chuck, but we should have a new champ come Sunday morning.

I DID notice that he took a LOT of hits from Silva in that fight and he managed to fight right back. In fact, it took a knee to knock Rampage out. Not saying that a good punch wont do that job, but he has taken the hits before. Kevin Randleman got some hits on him too.

In Chuck's first fight with him, he hit Rampage hard and accurately. Compared to Chuck's 1 hit wonders in previous UFCs, these shots were solid and it didnt matter.

We can make perfect sense about these fighters, come up with a great prediction, and still be surprised.

Oh yeah, I looked again on YouTube for the fight where Rampage slammed a guy into KO kingdom and I found a fight of him vs. Lindland. Isnt Lindland some wrestler? Well I spotted Rampage taking HIM to the ground a few times.

What Id really really like is to see Rampage body slam Liddell. Now that would be a shocker. To obtain a guy with excellent ground defense and not only take him to the ground, but deliver him with extreme force. He did slam Liddell in Pride, but then again, Liddell did grab the ropes.

I disagree 100%.

I find a shitload of chuck's fights boring. I honestly believe hes a lucky striker. A good one at that, but for entertainment value, no.

Id even say Hughes is more entertaining (which is a mouthful from me). For instance, he bodyslmmed that black metrosexual looking guy into submission...and who can forget the comeback he made in the middle of 1 of the rounds with Frank Triggs?

Rampage has tons of entertaining fights..even when he loses. Eastmen was my first snorefest. Even his interviews are fantastic. The guy can and will generate a crowd if he wins not only this, but his next fight. He will be bigger than Chuck.

I don't know about that, I would say Rampage is the more techincal fighter. I think of Chuck as more the duke it out, wild punching tough guy (albeit with great takedown defense and countering ability).

Should be record breaking numbers for this event tomorrow for the UFC. They opened Sportscenter with a history and some highlights, had top boxing promoter Lou DiBella and Joe Rogan debate boxing and MMA and the weigh-ins are on ESPN News right now. Should get a few more fans by the end of the weekend.

Karo's fight was the best of the night. Josh put up a good fight. I was hoping so badly that I would see the same action in the main event.

For the simple fact you had money on it, I am glad you picked the right one. Its like Russian Roulette. You just take a gamble, especially with how the UFC has been going lately. Upsets all over the board. I wouldnt so much call this an upset, but I think the majority of people would pick Liddell. However the majority of people probably wouldnt know all that much about Rampage either. Wish the fight wouldve atleast lasted for a few rounds, but oh well I am glad I didnt buy the thing.

I disagree with that. He looked the same as he does before every fight. Since his last win, he's been in a million TV shows, ESPN; he's got all the confidence in the world and just does his thing. But as soon as round 1 started, I did sense a lot of nervousness from him when they were circling and Rampage's defense looked tight as hell. Rampage has got his number, simple as that. Just like Chuck has Tito's and Tito has Shamrock's. Rampage training with a pro boxer was the difference. I think he'll be at the top for a while.

I didnt like the hit Chuck took...looked like a graze. Its almost as if Cuck was taken out by his own medicine, but my friend said there was an elbow on the ground that you can see that clearly made Liddell's arms drop.

And that punch was very solid. Yeah the 3rd shot on the ground made his right hand drop, and that's when McCarthy jumped in. Then Rampage got a 4th shot in for good measure.

No rematch, did Chuck even mention one? I doubt he wants one.

It was a textbook counter punch. Chuck's style doesn't match up with Rampage's in the first place, but he made a horrible mistake anyway. Threw left to the body (which probably had a 15% chance of hurting Rampage) with his head sticking straight up, both hands pretty low and didn't follow up. That gave Rampage time to line it up and then ballgame. I wouldn't take it away from Chuck's chin at all. That shot was right on the button and Rampage got some power behind it.

Why would you be glad you didn't buy it? This was one of the most entertaining UFC events in awhile. If this one wasn't worth the purchase then I can't think of one that would be

It sorta works if you include common sense in the process. Wandy cancels out because he both won and lost to rampage. Leaves a break in your equation.

Regardless the fight still holds tremendous potential. Hendo holds the 185 and 205 Pride belts so the chance to unify the 205 division opens some doors in MMA.

Yeah I agree. I think it's the first good move Dana has made since the buy out. Other than putting Chuck in there against Rampage.

He was sending a bad message before with all the UFC signings he was making. Gave the appearance that he was trying to phase out PRIDE completely.

Now here's the question. Will they fight in a ring or cage and how can they justify having both belts on the line because of that very reason? Does Dana already have a master plan for this or is he finally just waiting to see how something will unfold?

The biggest money to be made would be for Rampage to win the Henderson fight, unify the 205 lb division, and have Henderson clean out the UFC 185 division. Then we all win.

Good job by Quinton. I was watching this fight at my boy's house and as soon as I saw Chuck throw that lame ass leg kick I knew he was scared. He got knocked flat. Is this boxing, blacks were 4-0 against whites in the fights. And to think that Quinton was maybe 5th best at at that weight in Pride.

Not sure I get what you said there. Looks like you're saying that blacks are 4-0 for some reason. You could look at it that way ... if you're black and you only look at those four fights. Or you could say that white boys have ruled MMA for years ... if you're white. Fact is though that color has nothing to do it. It's all about skill in the fight and drive in the gym. MMA is always changing at the top. I prolly misunderstood you though.

I don't intend this to take away from the main point of your post that Pride had a better rank and file than UFC. Most unbiased fans see it that way too. Nut huggers from both camps argue individual fighters, but over all Pride had it over UFC.

I saw the video, it was pathetic! Chuck got owned by the Rampage! It was sad! I don't know what happened to Chuck, he looked scared, he looked like he didn't even wanna fight! Very dissapointing, but I hope he comes back with a vengeance

I still smile ear to ear when I think about the unstoppable ice man getting melted down.

The fact that he made up for all his losses except from rampage, a man who totally fucking destroyed him, only to get antoher loss, does not surprise me in the slightest and delivers an awesome wave of delight.
