If muscle size is the glass, and strength is the water that fills the glass, when you get to a certain point in your training career, you may find that you need a taller glass if you want to hold more water. |

well that pretty much answers my question, despite the few exceptions, I guess you really don't see too many small guys putting up big weight.

go to a powerlifting meet or an olympic lifting meet and say that.

I've seen guys like that, do they ever reach ceilings because of their smaller size?
|
|
a)sometimes they gain size and lift in heavier classes.
b) sometimes you are seeing them after gaining size (even though they ar still really light) and in their higher class, as some of them are very short. c) some have great genetics. d) some have great drugs |

Makes sense. In my case, can someone who is 150 lbs reach a benchpress of around 225+ and a squat of over 300 lbs (currently a bit over 200 and 260) at that same size without the help of C or D, with a good workout and diet?

I don't see why not at all.
just set up a program that helps you get those results. |

Thats good to hear, I was kind of unsure, I was reading a thread at another forum and a lot of the guys were saying that maintaining your weight leads to no gains.

I heard some people say that low weight can cause plateau's, in your case did you just do the usual things to overcome any plateau's?

At the time, I actually did not care so much about numbers as much as I did about losing or gaining weight. I had been doing 215 for sets of 3-5 toward the end of my cut (where I dropped to around 150 lb), and stayed on those numbers during my bulk up to 170.
Since then, I have changed my program drastically. At the moment, I don't work chest as much, so am not pressing anywhere near those numbers, as I've changed my rep range, and don't flat bench (decline and incline bench for me right now). I get what you are asking though. I think I will be in the same boat as you in a few years after I reach the weight I want to stay at. I have thought about it to an extent and will likely be keeping a close eye on my calorie intake so I don't gain more weight but will try to gain power. |

haha, the thread was: Getting Big on Maintenance Calories Possible? - Wanna Be Big Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Forums, but reading it over again, I think it has more to do with gaining size than strength.
