Scotty Bowman (Detroit Head Coach) Announced retirement immediately after the game. As the most winningest coach in NHL history, I must say that this is a beautiful way to go out, ON TOP!

I think that Steve Yzerman should of won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. He led the team in scoring, he was playing on one knee, and he simply pushed his team to the limits.

He would have been a good choice too. I think they went with Lidstrom because of how the Wings' defense shut down the Whalers. Lidstrom was logging something like 35 minutes of ice time a game, plus he helped on the offensive end too.
Yzerman is a warrior though. A lot of guys would have sat out if they had the kind of pain he had.

Yzerman was my choice for MVP with the most point and playing with the bad knee but LIdstrom wasn't a bad pick either he loged tons of ice time an had only 2 pm's in the entire playoffs.
