For a week or a week and a half I have been eating more calories per meal to gain weight. I went to the gym yesterday and I had gained 4 pounds. Am I progressing quickly or slowly? I don't think the weight is from food because I was hungry before I lifted and I only had jello and some small turkey slices.

I have been known to gain anywhere from 15-20lbs in the first two days of training and eating hypocalorically.
I have a genetic mutation called "the fucking man" though. you may not be as lucky.

Pre-workout nutrition doesnt get much better than jello and turkey slices.

The serious answer: everyone's different. It's subjective. I think I read somewhere that 2 pounds a month of muscle is what you can gain if you do things right, but that number is just someone's educated guess.

It also depends on your level of experience. You'll make quicker gains as a n00b and slower gains as an accomplished lifter.
But one this is certain: true mesomorphs are a hated people.

Haha I know. I had less than 5 minutes to eat something. And it was the quickest thing to scarf down.
